Hollywood Forever 2/28/2006

Strangely, this cemetery is one of my favorite places to spend time. With graves of Hollywood greats such as Valentino, it's an unusual and unique part of this town's heritage. During the summer there are outdoor movie screenings where you can bring your own picninc and drinks and enjoy a classic film "over and under the stars". more

Celebrity Cemetary 9/25/2005

This cemetary houses the graves of many celebrities who have passed away. I have only been to this cemetary once with some friends and we did what a lot of people do, grave hunting. It is kind of eerie and a bit morbid but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed finding the graves of celebrities I recognized. more

Hollywood Forever Cemetery 9/24/2005

My boyfriend and I and some friends went to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery once just for the fun of it. My boyfriend though it would be fun to see which celebrities were buried there. The cemetary was actually a pretty nicely landscaped and there were a number of people there doing the same thing we were. more

great place 8/20/2005

The best place for a walk. I love the creepy lake and all the tuff tombs. I ALWAYS visit the Jayne Mansfield Memorial and have been trying to find Dee Dee Ramone's grave. and Mel Blanc is buried here. If you're an Angeleno, it's worth a drive through on a quiet Sunday afternoon when you're done with your latte and newspaper. Bring the Hollywood and movie buffs for sure. more

A morbid window into hollywood's past 8/18/2005

Though a bit moorbid, this star fillled cemetery is a nice place for a quite walk through the bigger players of the silver screen. Douglas Fairbanks, Mel Blanc and manny oother legends pepper this memoorial to the celebrities oof days gone by. Rudolph Valentino's crypt is actually stained red froom the many kisses his morners have given his granite slab over the years. There's a strange tour guide knoown as the lady in black who is available oon the weekends. The cemetery also has video memorials and exhibits for the many tourists who haunt this haunt. more

Owner Message
  • Hollywood Forever is a cemetery unlike any other in the world. One of the world's most fascinating landmarks, Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place to more of Hollywood's founders and stars than anywhere else on earth. Founded in 1899, the cemetery was an integral part of the growth of early Hollywood.. Funeral Ceremonies,Burials,Cremation Services.

Editorial
  • Founded in 1899, the former Hollywood Memorial Park has a checkered past: legendary movie star interments, scandal-plagued management and a mid-'90s bankruptcy that led to new ownership and a name change. Forever Enterprises has initiated extensive restoration of the grounds and now offers a revolutionary form of remembrance. Futuristic video memorials--combining family videos, interviews and even favorite songs of the deceased--let folks decide beforehand how they'll be remembered. Luminaries interred on the grounds include Cecil B. DeMille, Douglas Fairbanks, Tyrone Power and Marion Davies. A rocket scientist is memorialized with a huge model of one of his aerodynamic designs. Newer monuments for members of the local Armenian community, featuring a stark black-and-white theme, are architecturally fascinating.
