Hollywood Casino

I just to think I would hit a big jackpot here one day because the first couple times I went, I started off pretty good. But it's been all down hill ever since! Still, I have a good time here. I'm a Hollywood movie fan and that's the real reason I started going here. I am not a real gambler, but for those who are, this place may be a slight turnoff. The "real pros" don't usually enjoy the schtick of this kind of establishment, but I sure do. I love going here because the place is filled with cool film memorabilia including a giant shark (Jaws), King Kong, pictures of famous celebs past and present, and sometimes people walk around in costumes dressed up like W.C. Fields or Marilyn Monroe. The restaurants are Hollywood themed (there's a great buffet) and a smaller 50's style rock and roll diner type place too. The casinos themselves are pretty nice with modern slot machines and blackjack tables. I always have a good time at this riverboat casino, even if I don't win much money. more

Since they have made admission free, I have stopped enjoying myself at this place. I did nothing but complain about the 5-dollar entry free before, but now that it is free, you can barely find room at a table or at a slot. It is so crowded, even early. My husband and I like to go early on Fridays, around 6.30. Since it is now free admission, the place is crowded by 7. Before it didn't get crowded till close to 10. I did, though, win 500 on my b-day last year! They have a very large nonsmoking section, but not everyone pays attention to this rule, so don't be surprised if you see smokers in the smoking area. If poker is your thing, make sure you get there really early to get your name on the list. It fills up real, real quick. more

The true measure of a great casino is if you have fun there even if you don't win. Hollywood Casino-AURORA is, indeed, fun. I wish I won more often, but it's probably not in the cards. But the outside is lit up beautifully, and inside is very cheerful. The food is great, too. We went there with people from work, and had a great time. more
