I recently had a dress and shirt cleaned at Holly. These were more expensive items so I thought the higher price tag would justify the outcome and service - I was WRONG!
The dress was new and had only been worn once. I was having it cleaned only because it smelled of cigarette smoke. I was shocked to find yellow discoloration on a good portion of the dress, which was made of green silk. I was leaving for vacation the day I discovered the stain. Since I couldn't resolve the matter in person immediately I sent an email explaining the situation and asked that someone get in touch with me.
No one emailed or called me back so I took the dress in once I got back and spoke with the manager, Rosie. She was immediately defensive and said from the looks of the stain it was not there fault. I was, and am, confused and angry!! There were no spots, or stains on the dress when I dropped it off and clearly the material of the dress reacted to the chemicals used to clean the dress. When I explained this to her she questioned me as if I were hiding something from her and asked why I would have it cleaned if I had only wore it once? I was shocked and appalled that I would be treated this way! She said that they would not be able to remove the marks. When I asked her to be compensated for the cost of the dress she said the only thing she could do was give me a store credit or have it sent to a third party textile company in Illinois to have it evaluated. She said they would most likely confirm it wasn't there fault and that they would assume NO RESPONSIBILITY for the damage done. She also told me that they pay $85 to have the garment evaluated.
So let me get this straight: They are willing to pay a third party $85 to tell me they are not responsible for the damage they caused and offer me a store credit for future cleaning, but NOT reimburse me??? A store credit is not reasonable since I don't trust them to clean my clothes!!! And what good does it do me to have someone else tell me my dress is ruined? I know the dress was damaged during the cleaning process and could care less about what some report says. I wanted them to FIX the problem .... treat me with some courtesy and reimburse me.
To add insult to injury the manager spoke to me in a condescending tone and called me ""honey"" after she basically told me there's nothing they could do for me. She seemed happy that I was upset and dissatisfied!
I would NOT recommend HOLLY cleaner!!!! The higher price tag does not ensure a better cleaned garment and they are definitely lacking in the customer service department.
