Rents are unreasonably high for a) what you get - no amenities to speak of; b) for seniors on a fixed income. They advertise a lower price then give a ridiculously high rent at the time of lease signing stating that the computer system is responsible for the increase. Although they look very nice when you see them, the structure of the buildings is poor. Every step is heard with the loud snapping and cracking in the ceilings above, due to the age of the buildings and the warping of the upper floors. I am unfortunate to have a neighbor above me that is home all day, nocturnal and lives in her bedroom 24/7. I have not had a decent night sleep in 6 months and management will not do anything to make my stay pleasant. The "PEACEFUL ENJOYMENT" clause in the lease means nothing to those that are getting no peace/quiet. Smoking is another issue. I am a non-smoker but the ventilation in these buildings is so poor that my clothing and my apartment reeks of nicotine as if I were the smoker. I have had the misfortune of also having a chain smoker above me. There are apartment dwellers that have been known to stalk caregivers and jump out of dumpsters as well and the Manager does nothing about it. Not a very pleasant place. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate them a zero. I would say, there are lots of other 55+ communities around. Drive past Holiday Square. Believe me, this is no Holiday!!!
