Wonderful place for our family reunion 8/17/2011

We hosted our family reunion at the Holiday Chalet. Crystal and her staff were WONDERFUL in the way the accommodated our needs and provided friendly and efficient service. We LOVED the historical building with all of its character -- it reminded us all of home! It was great to have the garden patio for our cookouts, hanging out, and family pictures. Nobody minded the very urban setting, from the kids to my 90-year-old mom whose birthday we were celebrating. I would definitely enjoy staying there again! more

  • The Scene
    This circa-1896 brownstone mansion was converted into a hotel in 1952. Much has been done to keep the historic significance a part of the ambience. Though it's located on busy Colfax Avenue in Capitol Hill, the street noise is minimized by the mansion's solid construction. The plus side of the location is its convenience to downtown attractions.

    The Details
    "Elegance" is the word. Jane Austen could have set one of her novels here. Yet the modern age has not been ignored: Each of the 10 Victorian-style suites has its own kitchen and bath, and extras are provided, including VCRs, a video library, pet accommodations, a game room and library, sightseeing-bus pickup, and a gas barbecue grill.
