Authentic cuisine with no match in Sacramento 8/19/2008

Hoicin is by far the best Chinese food in Sacramento, on the same level as the authentic Chinese restaurants in San Francisco's Chinatown. I had the good luck to live in Rosemont (near where Hoicin is located) for three years and was a weekly customer. Now that I live downtown I still drive the twenty minutes to Hoicin when I can; there is just no other Chinese food in Sacramento on par with Hoicin. If you want authentic Chinese food you won't be satisfied anywhere else. Personally I would recommend the Mongolian beef as their best dish. Additionally, the food is served fast (dine-in and to-go orders are often ready within five minutes of putting in the order) and the staff understands the meaning of true customer service. If I could give them more than five stars I would. Pros: The best food, excellent service, and fast. Cons: The only drawback is the location; the ambience level is average. more

Far From the Other Restaurants Who Claim to Serve ""Chinese Cuisine"" 4/26/2008

You can walk into any restaurant in the world and can tell if the cuisine is true to the culture. You'll find more than half of the patrons are of that particular culture! That's what you'll find at HoiCin. Pros: Great food for the price! more

best Chinese food around 12/8/2007

My husband and I both agree , Hoicin is the best Chinese food around. Everything is cooked fresh and the food is wonderful. We have been looking for good Chinese food for a long time and Hoicin is wonderful. Pros: delicious food, great service, nice inside Cons: not a great location, in a strip mall, but high quailty food and service more

deliciouuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssss!!! 7/4/2007

been there a few times in the past month, their black peppercorn steak filet is a must try. juicy, sweet & tender, couldnt get any better than that. their live lobster in sampan deep fried style also a killing too. they aint that busy, during dinner time, but i think it is because they aint in a good neighborhood, otherwise, i bet they will rival some of the big boy if they are in DT or area like folsom. more

Nice people, average food 2/16/2007

I got really excited when I read the reviews about this place. Moving to California from the East Coast ... I have found only one place that is comparable to what I have had in New York and Boston.....HoiCIn is a nice little place and Ok if you want something quick, and the people are nice, but this is not it. I recommend House of Chang (Natomas and Elk Grove Locations) Cons: average more

Best in Rancho BY FAR and they DELIVER 6/15/2006

I had been to Hoicin once or twice in the past and loved the place and then one night I was out doing something and saw a car with the ""Hoicin"" on top of his car with the phone number, stating they delivered! When I saw that I quickly wrote down the number. Pros: Quick, courteous, great food more

Great chinese food. Wonderful Valentine's Day. 2/14/2006

I took my wonderful girlfriend to HoiCin for Valentine's Day. I based my decision to go there on the reviews on CitySearch and I was pleasantly surprised that all the positive reviews were true. Tons of people do take out and I think we will too. We ordered the beef w/ cilantro soup. I've always loved that soup and HoiCin's was one of the best I've ever tasted. Then we got their Double Dragon (which is crab/lobster in their signature batter). Gf and I devoured the whole plate. We also added on the Seafood Happy Family which was a good mixture of meat, vegetables, and seafood. Was not very Americanized Chinese, as some Chinese restaurants have resorted to. The marinade for the food is just right, not salty, but not bland either. Almost perfect. We are already planning to come back again this coming weekend, if not the next weekend. more

Very Yummy.... 10/11/2005

Been there on Labor day, great food! Their smoked sea bass was just awesome, sweet & juicy! I also tried their crab rangoon, very crispy and taste well too! Service was prompted too! Great dining experience. more

Best Delivery Service in Rancho Cordova 6/6/2005

There are few neighborhood restaurants that deserve my regular business. Hoi Chin is one of them. They have a very large menu and I've never ordered a dish that I didn't like. I usually rate a Chinese place based on the quality of their appetizers, Hoi Chin has excellent prawns, butterfly-style with light crispy batter. Not greasy. The fried rice is a good bargain and it stays fresh even for leftovers the next day (doesn't dry up like other greasy spoon China cafes). Delivery is prompt and no fee is charged, so tip well. Pros: Quality , Delivery, Choices more

Highly Recommend 6/1/2005

I moved back to Rancho Cordova after living in South Sacramento for ten years. The Chinese Restaurant I would frequent was close to home, had fast service and very good food. I wasn't sure I would find a Chinese Restaurant to replace it here. HoiCin Restaurant has fast, friendly service and the food is excellent. I live close enough that they will even deliver to my home. more

Divine Duck Dishes! 5/31/2005

As a connoiseur of dishes made with duck, HoiCin can't be beat! Their extensive menu is impressive and always worth the trip. Now that we have a new baby and can't go out to eat as often as we used to, their delivery service is quite a blessing. We enjoy their delicious fare at least once a week. Thanks so much for your excellent food and service. Pros: Excellent value more

Authentic Chinese 5/23/2005

Mmmm~~ egg sauce with prawns....mmm~~~ dimsum...mmm~~~ jellyfish with sesame oil~~ the only thing missing on the menu is frog legs. Totally recommend this place! Hot tea is free (which is always a good sign..unlike P*Ch*ngs). I would recommend everything on the menu (even though I haven't tried 'em all) simply because it is very reasonably priced and they give generous portions! Mmmm~~~~ Pros: Generous portions, Pleasant music, good service more

Can you believe they deliver, too??? 5/20/2005

We started going to HoiCin when it was Daimo. We were among their first happy customers. Dining in the restuarnt is great. There are busy times, but we have never waited to be seated no matter how big or small of a party we have. The food is incredible & authentic, and the menu is extensive. The icing on the cake was the day I drove by and saw that I did't even have to stop by for take-out when we didn't feel like HoiCin's delicacies (clams with black bean sauce, house chow-mein hong kong style, honey-walnut chicken, whole fish deep fried, green beens with ham (the green beens are not at all what you are thinking but they are delicious:). Pros: Prompt Seating, Delivery, Execellent Food more

very very good 5/13/2005

I miss traditional and authentic Chinese Food. This is the best restaurant in Sacramento area. Fresh seafood and special course. It worth to give it a try and you will love it! Pros: reasonable price, nice setting, good service more

Unbeatable!! 5/4/2005

Cant believe there is a really upscale chinese restaurant in town i dont even know before! It is just different than most of the ""very"" chinese restaurant: tidy dining room, excellent food and polite staffs... I encourage you to try their Mongolian Beef, you cant find a better dish anywhere in town! Quiet dining room with some very soft chinese music. (well, i dont really know what language was that, but i assume it is chinese) Pros: Quiet dining room, excellent food, great service more

Great seafood meal ever 4/22/2005

The greatest dim sum house within the area! Unlike others, their dim sum aint pre-cooked! They cook it when you order. Pros: all-hours dim sum, elegant atmosphere more
