My best friend's Dad passed away and Hoffmeister Mortuary on Chippewa handled everything.
My friend Marie and her sister Chris, went into make the arrangements and in talking to Marie I was told that the experience at Hoffmeister was good in that all the prices were clear and laid out front and center.
I thought that the visitation on Wednesday night went so smooth. I found the woman who took care of the food to be very accommodating and the two people that opened the doors for the visitors to be friendly and I believe that they would have helped us with ANYTHING that would have come up. I am NOT part of the immediate family but as I tried to help at the end of the night packing up the food and getting flowers to take to Marie's house I was treated as I was the one paying for everything, I was treated very well. I also liked the fact that as I walked down the stairs to the limos for the procession to Jefferson Barracks one of the gentlemen holding the door opened grabbed my hand to help me walk down the stairs. Nice touch.
I am from a small town and take pride of the fact that the funeral parlors in my home town are run by people that I know and honestly thought that here in the ""big city"" mortuaries would run you through like a number. Hoffmeister made me think I was in a small town. One where they knew me forever and cared about how I felt about things. AND, like I said, I am only a 20 year friend of the family. NOT a family member.
All this being said I would like to make one complaint. I feel that the limo company really needs to state that they are able to drive 8 people and NOT 10. The limos were crowded and while I chose another way to get to Jefferson Barracks that was a more enjoyable ride, if I had been an immediate family member, my feelings would have been hurt that I couldn't ride with the rest of my family.
Other than that, as I have stated, I would TOTALLY recommend this mortuary. - Laurie
