Lacking in a Number of Ways 6/18/2011

Seems to be nice people but not the place to take your dog for anything longer than a few hours. I tried the place twice (just to give them a chance to make up for mistakes on their first visit). One time they forgot to give the dog medicine and the next time they gave me all the food back for a two day stay and they could quite remember what they fed the dogs. They have two many dogs to look after and the dogs are locked up relatively early in the evening for all night. If there was ever an emergency there the closest person is 20 minutes away at best. The facility is clean but there is close to no outdoor area for so many dogs. If your dogs need special attention this is definitely not the place to bring them. Way too many dogs for the facility and staff to look after properly more

BEST Boarding & Doggie Day Care Around!!!!! 2/17/2011

I have taken my dog to several doggie day care facilities and Hip Hounds is by far the BEST!!! It has the largest climate controlled facility for the dogs to run around and the staff is not only friendly but take EXCELLENT care of the dogs. And with the LIVE WEBCAMs, I can see my dog playing throughout the day, how cool is that!!!! THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE I TAKE MY DOG!!!!! more

FANTASTIC Place! Great Staff, Really Nice Facility 1/21/2011

This place is awesome! It is hard to find a facility with so much open indoor room for the dogs and in Texas, where it is super hot or pretty cold much of the year, that is very important! Most kennels leave your dog locked up except for a couple 5 minute potty breaks a day (I know, I worked at one), but Hip Hounds makes sure your dog gets lots of exercise and interaction. The staff are very friendly and have always been very on top of things. The facility looks and smells very nice. It is also obvious that they care about dogs, not just making money. The owner even takes in some foster dogs and donates food to a program to help homeless dogs. more

My Dog LOVES Hip Hounds! 11/16/2010

I?ve been taking my dog to Hip Hounds since September of ?07 and she LOVES IT THERE! The staff are always friendly, responsive and take excellent care of her whenever she?s there for daycare or boarding. They have super convenient hours, opening up at 7a and staying until 7p during the week, giving me the flexible to work all day and run an errand or two afterwards and not having to worry about rushing to get home. Plus, they have webcams that allow me to check in on my dog throughout the day. I highly recommend them, they?re GREAT! more

Thinking of going to Hip Hounds... Think again 3/28/2010

What a disappointment!!! The facilities aren't bad, but the customer service and attention to details are awful. To me trust is paramount when selecting a doggy daycare, and this place has lost my trust. Cons: customer service more

Do Not Take Your Dogs To Hip Hounds 3/26/2010

My husband and I have been bringing our two labs here for two years now. We have had decent care for our dogs, but the customer service is ridiculous. My husband and I both work late hours and rely on services like this to take care of our dogs during our late hours. We also rely on the 7 to 7 schedule and work to the last possible minute. One night my husband showed up a few minutes late (after calling and calling with no answer) and found the entire place locked up, lights out, and no person in sight. We had no clue what had been done to our dogs, and read nowhere about a policy concerning lateness. Furious, we called the manager who refused to return and finally the owner who came out at 9 o'clock to give us our dogs and referred to this as a ""big accommodation."" I hardly see this as an accommodation when neither my husband or I were notified by phone that they would be putting our dogs in boarding, nor was there anything written in our contract regarding any such policy. We were never called for consent to lock up our dogs for boarding. We continued to take our dogs to Hip Hounds, much against my wishes, but to finish out our pass, when our dogs were locked up a second time, after running a few minutes late...again, we were not called, our contract had never been altered to include a late policy...our dogs were just locked up and expected to pick them up the next day and pay for boarding. My husband got into a verbal argument with the manager, who basically told us we were the only people who ever had issues with the pick up time and if we felt so strongly about the policy then we should take our leave. I had contact with the owner through a series of e-mails where she apologized for the behavior of the manager, but never once attempted to rectify the overall situation stating...""I'm sorry our hours are an inconvenience for you."" and ""You should try Taurus."" At any other business establishment, employees are scheduled to work at least 30 minutes past closing time...at the very least, institute a late fee...but when we are commuting from downtown Austin to Pflugerville and hit unexpected traffic, then treated as if we have broken some sort of policy (that has never been written or signed by me!), is unforgivable. In her last e-mail, the owner stated that she was a former lawyer and was ""confused"" by my ""Threats"" of ""slander and/or defamation"" after telling her I would let the public know about our experience with Hip Hounds. She continued to state that she is ""under no obligation to give people written notices."" Our dogs are like our children, and I would expect a company like this to be understanding of that. You cannot put them into boarding without my consent or without notification. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO HIP HOUNDS! There are too many other businesses with the exact same amenities and MUCH friendly staff and clearly stated policies and procedures! Pros: Decent Dog Care Cons: Owner and Employees have clue what Customer Service Means more
