Great Place to have your wedding 4/29/2009

This place is fantastic. Patty, Jonathan, Steve, Douw and Chef Jeff- and all the staff were so incredibly wonderful. I had my wedding there on April 17, 2009 and I recommend it to any bride. I never had to worry about anything. They take total control over any issues or concerns. They took care of everything. I am in the business and can probably be a pain in the butt to work with but they never showed any sign of stress. They were open to my ideas and really listened to my needs. I loved having my wedding here. The staff were exceptionally nice and treated everyone with respect. The Hillsboro Club is perfect and made my day everything I wanted it to be. Pros: Excellent more

EQUAL TO ANY MOBILE 5-STAR RESORT 4/22/2009

The Hillsboro Club in Hillsboro Beach Florida is an unbeatable venue for family events between April-November when non-members are welcome. Anyone who writes anything bad about this resort is either in need of a padded cell or a competitors friend/employee.\r \r The Club is inspired by the beauty and charm of pre-commercial Florida. The Club envelops guests in an enchanting world of island living, drawbridges, a working 1800's lighthouse, and a world of impeccable service and elegance at prices that beat stuffy hotels no matter how upscale they pretend to be. The Club is able to host at least two weddings numbering hundreds of people simultaneously and seamlessly. We know; our daughter was married there on 4/17/09.\r \r Event travelers have myriad options for relaxation here including a full service Spa, incredible exersize room, a huge private beach, a heated pool, world class tennis and putting greens, boating and wind-surfing. The staff, most of whom live on premises in seperate quarters and create an ""I Care"" family team atmosphere, set a new standard on the way events are done. Service is always unobtrusive, genuinely friendly and wholly gracious. Warm smiles, breathtaking ocean views and otstanding amentities like in-room safes & flat-screen TV""S in perfectly appointed rooms.\r \r Equal to the best Zagat restaurants is the gourmet food and the ""everyday"" food. The filet, Maine lobster and the cheeseburgers were ""to die for"". The appetizers were incredibly delicious, especially the coconut shrimp. Desserts? The night after the wedding fourteen of us went to the famous ""Caps"" restaurant. They offered three desserts citing the best as Key Lime Pie. The same pie served on Thursday night for our Island Celebration Rehersal dinner beat Caps by miles!\r \r Lastly, our group was composed of guests whose life's work ranged from the service industry, manufacturing and sales, senior corporate executives, university professors, MD's and entreprenures. In spite of a diversity of likes and dislikes, we were all treated with the ""I Care About Everyone"" tone set by Dan Dodge and his key people: Patty, Steve, Kenny, Jeff and their teamates proves the the appreciation of their guests is the new standard of luxury. Congratulations Hillsboro Club and Thank you!!! \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r Pros: EXCEPTIONAL LODGING, SERVICE, FOOD, STAFF, VIEWS, RECREATION Cons: My family and guests could not live there permanently. more

Beach chic! 1/6/2009

I disagree with this review! I went to a wedding here in 2008 and had a blast. All the guests were able to spend the weekend getting to know each other. The food was not 5 star but certainly decent. The rooms were older and typical south florida style (green, coral, yellow and lots of white wicker!) Also, there's a pool, gym and spa on location which I took full advantage of!\r \r more

In desperate need of renovation 11/17/2008

Stayed for a weekend for a wedding. I was expecting a high end resort when I heard of the policy banning jeans and cell phones. As it turns out, this place is nothing more than a Motel 6 on the beach that happens to have tennis courts. In fact, a Motel 6 would have been nicer. The food at the resort is horrible, the service stinks, and the rooms were embarrassing. The lime green paint and pink wallpaper were enough to make Liberace blush. The bathrooms were dirty, the hallways smelled, and the television in my room was at least 20 years old and barely functional. I am insulted that I spent money to stay there. Stay away! Pros: The beach is decent Cons: Everything else is awful more
