After the staff including management failed several opportunities to make us feel like welcomed guest we left and found an eatery that understands what good customer service truly is. We were in town on business and selected Highmark’s CJ from a list of places to eat provided by the hotel. We requested seating a distance from the view and noise from the kitchen, the seating host did not comment but her body language expressed agitation. We were happy with the seating as the sun shining through the shutter that was slightly opened was warming. A few minutes later a woman who did not identify herself walked over and begin to reach to close the shutter, she withdrew her reach perhaps realizing she was about to rudely reach over us. This unidentified person said something about closing the shutter because the sun was in the face of the "poor little man sitting across the room (words from the manager)" We did not know how to respond to this odd behavior, the shutters were less than half opened and was the only light we had at our table, nevertheless, we said ok. The person speaking to us I later learned was the manager. Our server was initially friendly but this seemed to change after the shutter incident. She reluctantly answered questions about the menu. We decided to leave for a more welcoming environment. I asked to pay for the ice tea that was delivered before our decision to leave. I spoke with three people asking how much I owed, they advised that they would get the manager who was within 2-3 feet of me but walked away. After standing and waiting in the reception area for 10min for someone to check me out; I gave the host $2 and said; this should cover the tea, I will wait no longer. It may have been obvious that we were not local folks. Most locals may be welcomed with a smile and accommodating staff. We were treated with obvious disregard. Unfortunately, we could not trust the food after experiencing such terrible customer service. Not recommended, 2 thumbs down.
