You don?t have to love golf in order to have a great time at the Highlander Pub. While the golf course is one of the best in the Twin Cities, the food is a near match. While I hate to recommend it (for fear of not being able to get reservations) the brunches for Father?s Day and other special days are nothing less than spectacular.\r

You are seated in one and one-half hour increments, so you feel no need to hurry. They start by bringing you some of their famous cinnamon rolls, and a frizzy drink. But after that, you are on your own with a buffet of regal proportions. Smoked salmon with capers and a tantalizing cucumber tarragon sauce, wild mushrooms, artichoke salads, raw oysters and clams on the half-shell (not every year), plus pasta salads and fresh, fresh fruits.\r

Then there is the traditional omelet bar, sauteed walleye, new potatoes, brussell sprouts, and countless additional vegetables in tantalizing sauces and throws. But the topper, the reason to go is the Prime Rib! It does melt in your mouth. It cuts softer than butter and has such flavor you would be happy if one slice of it was all you got to eat for a week.\r

You can end your meal with dozens of desserts or go straight to the ?chocolate fountain.? Yes, a fountain of high quality chocolate you can cover strawberries, melons, raspberries, marshmallows, pineapple, cherries, or just about anything your heart desires. All of this for $25 plus tip and tax. Once you try it, you will come back every year. See you there.\r
Pros: Great atmosphere, easy parking, golf included.
Cons: Far out of the city.
