Tried to sell me parts for car that were found to be good with simple testing procedures.Don't trust unless you have money to burn! more

After years there, I realized that they kept saying things needed fixing (always over $300) and when I finally took it to other places, they said it didn't need fixing at all. Needless to say, I left there, feeling I gave them thousands of dollars more than I should have. However, what they did,was good work, as far as I could tell. more

I took my Toyota in complaining of transmission problems. They said the transmission was fine, but in their standard overview of the car, listed a ton of things that needed attention. One item they mentioned was extensive brake work required. I declined any of the work since the car was old. I had the brakes done elsewhere. Only the pads needed replacement, the cylinders and rotors were fine even though High Road claimed they needed replacement. A few weeks later, my transmission went out completely stranding me 30 miles from home (the same transmission High Road gave a clean bill of health). more

Ballard place on Leary Way near the Ballard bridge—a dealer alternative. Frankly I think they would rather work on older cars. Low key place but they are very thorough and always give you a priority by greatest need. I've gone to them for over 10 years. Highly recommendable. more

...if a detailed eye and dependable, trustworthy repair job is what you're looking for, these are the guys! Run by brothers, I have found them to be one of a small handful of auto repair shops that you can depend on being honest! We've been using High Road for years now...there was even a time when we brought in our Honda for some work we knew was going to be pricey, and they told us that it didn't need to be done at all in this type of car. They could have taken advantage of us, but they didn't. Only thing is that they mainly work only with Honda's and Toyota's so we have to take our Infiniti elsewhere. more

I brought my Honda Civic to High Road for its 60K mile tuneup. They faxed me an estimate for $5600. They detected seepage from the head gasket so they proposed to not only replace the head gasket, but do the rings as well because the new head gasket would cause the rings to fail due to the new pressure on them. They also wanted to do the timing belt, alternator, water pump, and replace the hole where the oil drain plug screwed into the oil pan. You name it, they wanted to fix/replace/repair it with little or no regard to what the car actually needed. Long story short, I did not let High Road do the work, and my Honda Civic now has 124K miles on it, and the head gasket still seeps coolant, but the engine is still humming along with standard maintenance from Clinton Auto. I understand preventative maintenance, but this was ridiculous. more
