Very Happy with grooming 8/23/2012

Took my miniature schnauzer in for a grooming today. When I picked him up he looked better than I expected. His nails trimmed, ears cleaned and his coat is so shiny and clean. I am very happy with their service. It was much cheaper than taking him to a pet store. I also had his vaccines updated while I was there. Will definitely keep taking him back. Very happy. more

High Desert is great!! 7/25/2012

Owning a pet is a huge responsibility both to the pet and financially. Veterinary can be expensive especially if your pet is sick or hurt without you being prepared. High Desert Animal Care worked with me. I had a huge bill because my pet was hit by a car. It was not easy but what was the most important was the exceptional care that my girl received and the fact that she was nursed back to her old self. She was worth every penny!! more

Never again. 5/2/2010

I took my one month old kitten down there. Before they would do anything, they asked if I can even pay for the treatment. I found this very rude. Then when my kitten passed, the assistant quickly said "She passed away." and she bolted from the room. A few minutes later, I found out that my kitten wasn't quite dead and would need to be euthanized. This broke my heart and the vet demanded that I "get a hold of myself" and sign because apparently, I was causing her to suffer.\r \r I paid with check, but they said they needed my ID, which I had left at home. The moment I got home, I received calls asking for my ID so they can get their money. Yes, its a business, but can I have a moment to grieve?\r \r This was a terrible, cruel place. No compassion, no comfort. Heartless. more

This place may seem like they are all about animals but when it comes down to it....their all about the money. I brought my 4 month old puppy to this vet in desperate need of help. With no money (right at that moment) or care credit eligibility. I then left my dog with them and proceeded to search for any possible ways of payment. They WOULD NOT start any treatment without any sort of payment...by this point my baby was bleeding internally and vomiting up everything (Parvo) Then come to find out 5 HOURS LATER they will except Co-lateral. My puppy died a day later... And i am left with a 700.00 bill. I believe that my baby would have survived and still been with me today if treatment would have began way sooner than did. -Why didn't they let me know about co-lateral in the beginning? -Why wait 5 hours to help a puppy that is physically and emotionally in pain? -Why do you need MONEY before the treatment of a young life? more

I have been to High Desert many times now, over the course of a couple years. I am always treated politely and with respect. Everyone listens and tries very hard to get answers to any questions I have. The prices are very reasonable. I am very happy with all who work there. Everyone behaves with compassion and professionalism. I have switched to High Desert in the last couple of years because the other place nearby, after my 8 years of patronage and many, many thousands of dollars, treated me like they didn't know me when I needed a little bit of help. It was truly heart breaking and offensive to me. Their prices were extremely high, as well. I then switched over to High Desert and all I can say is that HIGH DESERT PET HOSPITAL IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY. more

No complaints 4/29/2009

I have been going here for around 7 years. They do the free health checkups for pets adopted from the pound. They are always able to get me an appointment when I need it, same day usually. I've taken my cat and 2 of my dogs there, and will be going there today for a puppy I just adopted from the pound. Rates are reasonable, no higher than any other vet. As far as I remember they were the cheapest to spay my cat when I had her. Dr. Naditch is great. more

Beware of the cranky nurses 4/1/2009

We have been using High Desert Animal Care Hospital for the last 12 years for our 3 dogs.They always have same day appointments their prices are fair but some times the nurses can be cranky to your pet ex we had a pit bull that we took for the low cost vaccines located out side. When it was are turn the nurse made a big stink because she had to go to him(maybe 10 feet from the table were the shots were) he was down at the other end of the building. No2 our boxer went in last Sept with a skin problem the nurse pulled him(really pulled hard he was scared) by the leash to the back room to get shots and them came and lectured us be cause he was not neuter and how he can die so and so fourth. In the end I guess their OK. more

I'll never take a pet of mine there again. 11/11/2008

I had to have my dog put down. These people lost the cremains that I had paid for and then lied to me, stalled me and never checked to see where they were. I was told to call back or they would call me but no one ever checked on it. Then when I got upset they said my dog was there. (I'm sure they meant ashes) and then they said they were checking with the crematory. They charge too much and they're inconsiderate. My dog meant a lot to me and this experience was stressful. more

Compasionate, caring, and very thoughtful 7/4/2008

I have been taking my animals to High Desert for over 12 years. I have never had a bad experience, even when I had to put my beloved pets to sleep, the staff was compassionate and caring. The doctors came out and discussed the treatment they were giving my Nela and when the treatment didn't work the doctor was very honest about costs. She had broke her back and the doctor said that they could keep working on her but it would be costly and he didn't think it would help, I really appreciated the honesty and concern for our family. Over the past 12 years they have assisted in helping myself and my family through some really hard times with our pets, now I have some young pets and I will always bring my pets to High Desert. Just to let you know my family is a multitude of races and we have never been treated badly by anyone at High Desert. Thank You High Desert... Lisa Nava-Hough more
