The Hickory House is one of my favorite restaurants! They have great steaks and ribs. Also, some really good new Happy Hour specials! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal with their family or friends. The bar is also a very fun place to eat. Very good bartenders and great people are there all the time! more

I love the family atmosphere of the 5/30/2012

I love the family atmosphere of the Hickory House! Their ribs are amazing - the meat falls off the bone. I love their homemade BBQ sauce. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Having a 2 yr old, we always have extra requests and needs. My daughter LOVES their macaroni and cheese. I wold definitely recommend this family restaurant!!! :) more

Family atmophere with great food!! 9/21/2011

A group of friends and I do a monthly dinner always trying to find that great new place. Someone within our group came upon a $10.00 coupon for the Hickory House Reynoldsburg. Our decision was made and decided to go on Monday 9-18. It was around 6:30. To our surprise they had a full house with a 10-15 minute wait. We had a party of five and we all ordered something different off the menu to sample. To our liking the Porterhouse and the ribs were our favorite. The pork falls off the bone of the ribs and the Porterhouse fills your plate. We will recommend the Hickory House to our friends and family. I will most definatly go back for the food and the outstanding service we received from the moment we walked into the resturant. more

Sorry, but ists not that good. 9/5/2011

II am new to Columbus and this forum. I moved from Kansas, and have been looking for a good BBQ joint since our arrival. I found a $10 coupon for the Hickory House and went Friday night to check it out. Boy was I disappointed. Terrible food, service, and decor. The ribs were some of the worst I have ever tasted. They were fatty, tasteless, and drowned in this repulsive sauce. I couldn't even finish them. They were so bad, and while I normally take left overs home, I just left these. Even with the 10 bucks off, still not worth it. I just wish I would have found this forum before I went, because Cris and the others are right, this place is terrible! more

Awesome Ribs & Steak/Shrimp Combo 8/1/2011

After noticing their $10 coupon in the Weekender, we decided to try it. What a great choice! We were disappointed that the coupon did not include the Porterhouse Special - but no big deal - he tried the BBQ ribs instead and LOVED them. I had the filet and grilled shrimp combo and it was delicious. Everyone there was very friendly and accomodating. The managers even stopped by our table and took the time to really talk with us - not just ask how our meal was and move on. We felt very comfortable here and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be back! more

A total disaster 7/26/2011

where to start. seated next to the kitchen entrance when there were many other seats available. salads were warm, brown and wilted, like they were made hours ago. the rolls were cold and hard. the bbq itself was smothered in sauce and liquid smoke, so you couldnt even taste the meat. we waited on our server to bring things that should have been brought out, and waited on the regular service such as refills and the like. we spoke to the manager, chad, who didnt seem to care that every aspect of our dining experience was bad, he acted like he had better things to do than listen to a paying customers experience. a complete waste of money and time, on of the worst dining experiences ive ever had. i will never go back, and wish there was a zero rating. more

Great new improvements!!! 3/3/2011

I've been a regular for a very long time at the Hickory House. I've been watching the new improvements since I've heard that Tony's Son-In- law, and Daughter are taking the family business over soon. I love it, they have painted the walls, and are making some small changes with the look of the dinner menus, Love it. We met Chad and enjoyed our conversation with him, he has a lot of energy, and is very egar to take the Hickory house to a new level. We think Tony did a outstanding Job picking Chad and Dawn to take over, Randy is great/The best and it seems Randy and Chad work well together. The food is great, and we have seen many improvements since Chad and Dawn have worked at this location in the past year. Very happy to see family working together, and can't wait for more changes. We love you, and will always support the Hickory House. Just wanted to let people know to ask for Chad and meet this new manager/owner. He is great!! Its great to see the next generation take over, and with Chad/Randy being great for the Hickory House. more

Horrible! 2/16/2011

We have been regulars at this restaurant for years but something is going on at this location and it isn't good. We ordered take out on one visit and the steak fries were burnt and the salad barely had a handful in the container and what was there was brown and disgusting. On the next visit (take out again) we ordered the pork chop dinners. When we opened one of the containers there was the biggest black hair on the lid of the container. The baked potatoes were tough and had bad spots throughout them and no sour cream even though we requested it. The salad again was in sorry shape and when we brought the previous order to their attention they blamed it one someone being new. Do you need someone who has been there for years to know to at least fill the salad container? Typically if you eat in the restuarant they seem to care more about the food and the appearance then when you get take out. I think we will find somewhere else to eat for awhile. more

Well, we tried it... 11/7/2010

We got lost and were hungry, saw the building and it looked busy from the outside, (which is usually a good sign that the food should be good, right?). We were seated literally at the door. My husband really resents this in resturants wanting to sit us directly at the door, when there are plenty of open places available that we could see. They weren't happy to be asked for another booth further in the resturant. We didn't even get to sit down before we were asked what we wanted to drink. If I were a regular, that would be fine, but we've never been there! more

Fake BBQ and revolting sauce. 2/19/2010

BBQ Fanatic. Own my own smoker, and have done competition, and this is not true BBQ. I dont know hows its prepared, but its not smoked. The sauce is disgusting. Its a cocktail of overly sweet BBQ sauce, and tons of liquid smoke. Putrid. If you wipe away the sauce, it will reveal the tasteless gray meat. Disgusting. Go the extra mile to Smokey Bones, or even Logans Roadhouse for a MUCH better BBQ/steak meal Also, the head bartender is a rude jerk. Pros: Good eats for being fake Cons: Not truely smoked more

Love this place. I would never eat ribs or steak for that matter anywhere else. This place has the best servers, the best bartenders, and the best food!!! Took some friends there and they drive here at least once a month to eat here. They won't go anywhere else for ribs or steak.. My best friend loves the smelt there and no place else. Thanks for being in town. Love you guys. Pros: everything Cons: not enough seating on friday and saturday nights. more

Liquid Smoke-GAG 7/31/2007

The first few bites of anything with the barbeque sauce are delicious, until a few moments later, when I am overwhelmed by the amount of liquid smoke which seems to permeate everything. Unfortunately, these ribs are not SMOKED, they are steamed then grilled, and the smoke flavor you taste is artificial and from a bottle, and it is way over done. Avoid this place and just go to City Barbeque or Hoggy's. You wont be burping liquid smoke for a week at those places. Pros: Friendly service Cons: Crazy amounts of liquid smoke more

My favorite for Ribs!!! 6/21/2006

This is where I go when I want good ribs! In fact, I go to Hickory House for my birthday dinner every year, and a few times between b-days too. My family just loves the food, from my 74 yr old grandparents to my 4 yr old son. There's something for everyone- I love the ribs & shrimp, my husband loves the steak & the french onion soup is a favorite for the entire family. They serve a basic iceberg salad, but add chinese noodles instead of croutons for a twist. The fresh-baked bread is mouth watering, and the desserts are delicous! Great service, low lighting, good for a quiet night out, or a large gathering- they have room for all!!!! Hickory House is a must if you like ribs! Forget about Montgomery Inn in Cincy- it's not even close!! Pros: great food Cons: a little pricey, avoid Fri/Sat more

Never disappointed 1/18/2006

We first tried this place a year ago. Dont know why we waited so long...have been here no less than 10 times. ALWAYS the service is superb, and the steaks divine. The bread is the best in town...And the crab stuffed mushrooms are awesome. This place has never let me down. The only thing I have not cared for is their ceasar dressing. Too oily for me.
