Wish I were a Local 7/17/2005

Hibernian was recommended as we were looking for an authentic Irish pub for the area. What a great find!! The staff was courteous and friendly, Andreas & Pete really made us feel like we were special! Too bad we had to go back to Wisconsin as if we lived down here we would definitely be in all the time! (We might be moving here and being close to the pub will definitely be a criteria!) Pros: staff, food, service Cons: parking more

WOW - what an improvement 6/24/2005

Things have really turned around at the Cary location! Food quality is outstanding, service is better than it was in the past and the bartenders are as charming as ever. Whatever the owners did to change -- Keep on Going! Truly a pleasure to enjoy lunch or dinner. Pros: ambience, service, staff Cons: smokey at pm, live music LOUD more

Sub-Par 7/30/2003

We were promptly seated by an open door with a chilly draft at a table uncofortable placed in the wide open. All the fans were on as well. We sat ungreeted for 20 minutes, enough for us to approach the host stand and ask for help. We were told we were seated in non-smoking, even though we requested smoking, but then were later told by another staff member that we could smoke anyways. It was all very unorderly. For a pub with an Irish name, the food was way off base and I would have liked to have been offered a good Irish beer other than Guinness or Harp. Our mistake was that this restaurant was affiliated to the one in Raleigh, which is a great pub. We will not make that mistake again. At least the food was reasonable, when we finally received it. Pros: food, portion size, lighting Cons: service, chilly!! more

My Friend won a trip to Ireland at the trivia about 2 weeks ago!! Pros: fun, cool place, lovely ladies Cons: parking more

vast improvement!!! 7/15/2003

I WENT TO THE HIBERNIAN IN CARY THE FIRST WEEK IT OPENED AND WAS REALLY NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED ! APART FROM THE DECOR WHICH IS AMAZING !! THE DRINKS WERE GOOD BUT THE FOOD COULD NOT TOUCH DOWNTOWN AND IT SEEMED IT WAS JUST TO BUSY FOR THE STAFF TO COPE , IN SAYING THAT I WENT BACK THIS WEEK AND WAS DELIGHTED !! I REALLY LIKE THE PUB DOWNTOWN AND I WANTED THIS ONE TO BE A SUCESS . EVERYTHING WAS GREAT , I HAD A PORK SPECIAL WHICH I HAVE TO SAY WAS ONE OF THE BEST MEALS I HAVE HAD IN AWHILE , OUR SERVICE WAS SUPERB!!! AND I AND MY FRIENDS HAD A GREAT EVENING , IM REALLY GLAD THAT THEY GOT THERE ACT TOGETHER!! WELL DONE !! Pros: AMAZING ATMOSPHERE, GOOD FOOD, GREAT SERVICE more

I suggest the 20 year old spittle chard! 7/15/2003

Well, I must admit, i wanted to give this new place a try. After leaving, i find myself questioning why i bothered. The food was great if you like flavorless entree's. The service was great if you like servers who seem bothered that you ordered a bottle of wine, and then proceed to spend 10 minutes at your table chewing gum and ever so gracefully shooting spittle onto your wine glasses. I must admit however, that was the highlight of the evening. The lowlight was: after spending close to $100 on our meal (flavorless food lion recipes) we felt rushed to leave as our server hovered waiting for her check. Pros: Good parking, goodberrys is close Cons: food, wine service more

A long way to go. 7/14/2003

In the time I have spent at this new CARY hot spot I have notice a few things. The lack of service is a big down side, and the lack of a selection of beer is hard to understand.Don't get me wrong the young ladies that seem to have made this place the spot to be seen at in MiniVan land are the reason this place will last. The food will not.The lunch buffet has some serious issues and the staff might be cute but are in need of some training.Overall it has a great vibe but is lacking in real restaurant service and quality.Ther a few places in town that you could learn a lesson from. Pros: Atmosphere, outside seating, bar staff Cons: food, service, lunch buffet more

Owner Message
  • Hibernian is a traditional Irish pub, through and through, with authentic and hearty Irish fare, old world charm, genuine accents and a staggering selection of beer. After work or on the weekends, drop by and try the outside tables or head inside to the cozy booths and fireplace-warmed den for a more intimate setting. If it's a weekend, hold onto your seat because after 9pm, this pub will be rocking with great music, lively people and overflowing pints. The service here is the most charming and responsive you'll find in Raleigh. You will never wait long for your favorite drink, be it a Black-n-Tan or simply a vodka tonic. Hibernian offers one of the Triangle's best selections of beer, and they know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. Our pub menu features Irish favorites like Bangers and Mash and Shepards Pie alongside steaks, sandwiches and salads.
