the richest hot chocolate and the best madelines you can find 5/18/2006

Burdick's serves the thickest, richest cup of hot chocolate I've ever had, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Although tons of people flock to the store for its signature beverage, I find it akin to liquid pudding and would rather stick to the uniquely flavored chocolates, delicious apple tart, and the best madelines you'll ever eat. Super crowded in the winter, with a line out the door, so stick to it on weekdays and summers if you don't care about the hot chocolate. more

I swear there is more to Burdick's than the hot chocolate, but I just need to chime in with everyone else and say: the hot chocolate is lethal, and you will die happy. It's the kind that gets nearly gritty at the bottom because it is so thick with chocolate. You may balk at the price of a small, but trust me, you may not want more than that. It's very, very rich. They also have tiny, charming chocolate mice and penguins and other treats and a few baked goods. Not a lot of seating, so come before the movies get out, or something. An awesome place to nesle in the winter. more

Tiny tiny chocolate place 4/15/2006

They don't really have much in the way of seating. They're famous for their chocolate though. And their hot chocolate. I'd have to say it was a little too chocolatey though, more like melted chocolate that hot cocoa. They make a good gift though, the chocolates. Tends to be crowded despite being slight off the beaten path from the main Harvard Square area. more

I love the hot chocolate at LA Burdick’s. It’s thick and creamy and to die for!! I get mine made with soy milk and it still tastes great. It’s a little expensive. A small cup is at least $3 but it’s worth it! I will splurge on a cold dreary day!! Yum! It’s very close to Harvard Square and Border Café. Parking is limited. Take the T. more

hot chocolate is good but expensive 9/13/2005

This is a small cafe that sells a ton of chocolate. It is a little far off from Harvard square. The chocolate drinks are about $3-5 and they don't give you a lot. It is extremely good and thick though. I heard that Burdick's makes the best chocolate in the Boston area so be sure to check it out! more

Amazing Hot Chocolate 9/3/2005

They also serve other sweets and special delights. However, they are really known for their chocolate. I must admit that it tastes amazing. Very rich. I prefer the milk chocolate but I have been told that the dark chocolate is much better. Burdick's is really nice to head to when it's cold in Cambridge or snowing out. It's a really good date place. Beware of the lines though. This place is popular. more

Hidden Gem in the middle of Harvard Sq 8/25/2005

This place is much like Serendipity of NYC - without the hype. Casual but understated atmosphere. This place attracts a sophisticated crowd with a mixture of Harvard students, professors, businessmen & occasionally, families. L.A. Burdick is well-known for their handmade gourmet chocolates/pastries. Their decadent iced chocolate is exceptional because it tastes like melted chocolate in your mouth. Let's just say it's not your typical iced chocolate drink because the cocoa makes the drink a bit bitter and not too sweet. The pastries are phenomenal. more
