Excellent Experience 9/16/2011

I am new to the area , when I saw a woman in my zumba class that had a great haircut, I asked where she went. I went on line to get the # and when I read the reviews, I almost didn't go, since there were some pretty bad reported experiences What a mistake that would have been......I just went today and it was fabulous! Jackie was great and talented, the salon was warm and friendly and even gave me a gift when I left. I would certainly recommend Hi Tech over and over again. Rita more

Time to move on! 4/27/2011

After 13 or so years I've had enough. They're just overpriced & offer little as far as customer service/customer satisfaction go. This is the place if you want layers, I'm convinced that's all they (Laura B)know. It's hard to swallow when you go in with the anticipation of coming out with a new or different "do" to come out with yet again, the same blah hair cut (The Rachael are we still in the '90's). You can tell them what you'd like or how much you want trimmed or how you spent the last 6 months growing out your hair/layers for this new look but it goes in one ear & out the other. They get so caught up in conversation that they turn on their autopilot mode & do exactly what you didn't want...AGAIN. Don't bother complaining, they'll only ask you again what is was you wanted & tell you it'll be the right length for that style next time. And DON'T bring your kids here, they charge no differently. The hair styles of some the women who work there are chic, but what about the paying clients? more

3 Horrible Experiences 6/30/2010

1. My regular hair stylist was on vacation, and I desperately needed a cut. I decided to go to High Tech to check it out and boy was I disappointed. The girl who cut my hair did a horrible job. I was a walk in so she didn't have time to blow dry. Later after it dried I noticed it was horribly uneven. 2. I decided to go back to the salon a few weeks later and have my cut fixed and highlighted. The stylist remarked on how horrible the cut was, and how the girl who had cut it was new and they should have a talk with her. She just evened up the cut, but charged $45! I thought that was outrageous, because they messed it up in the first place, and she hardly cut my hair! I wouldn't even say it came close to a trim! She spent a total of 5 minutes on it. Then, the highlights. I said subtle, and natural looking, which apparently translates into bright red & unnatural looking. 3. Holy Cow. What do I do? The next week I called the salon, said I wasn't happy with the results and would like to pay to have it fixed. Apparently this woman doesn't listen to a word I say, I again repeated that I wanted something subtle and natural and that the red made me uncomfortable. I walked out there with even worse results. They were just a deeper brighter red. I was speechless. All in all, within 10 minutes of being home from High Tech I went straight to CVS, bought box dye and returned my hair to its original color. $220 down the drain. High Tech has the prices of an upscale salon, but lacks the atmosphere and expertise. Pros: None! Cons: Hairstylists & Prices more

Wonderful Experience 2/10/2010

Had a Total Makeover.... Drove by there many times decided to call for an appointment Had my Hair cut from Long to short .. colored and hilighted after an extensive consultation with Lou , I have never had so many compliments on my hair Thanks Hi Tech Pros: Very Impressive Salon more

bad news. 6/13/2009

The stylists here all seem to by stuck in the late 90's. The woman who butchered me had zero knowledge of current trends, spent all of 15 minutes on what would have, in another (better) salon, been at least an hour long haircut. I hate to leave such a scathing review but if I can save one person from the trauma I experienced here, it was worth the negativity. Sorry Hi-Tech, I have but one word for you- TRAGIC! Pros: none that i can see. Cons: too many. more

earned the 1 star 2/18/2009

awful experience! the sink was filthy and the floor unswept. everyone in the salon seems trapped in the early to mid 90's. nail services may be ok, but stay away from the stylists here. more

Get Cut! 6/17/2008

I was long overdue for a cut because of time constraints. A friend, who's hair always looks great, referred me to Karen at Hi Tech. First impressive point was the welcome I got at the reception desk. When I checked in I mentioned I would also like an eyebrow wax. No problem, appointment after the cut and dry with the blowdryer (have to use the whole phrase, I just got flagged). . Karen came to the front, sat down with me to ask about my hair and what I wanted...length, style, shape. After a wash, she cut, we talked. All ina ll a great experience with Karen. Then I was escorted to the spa area, absolutely spotless and not a overpowering aroma from the treatment rooms. Katie waxed my brows. I emerged with virtually no redness. They will definitely see me again. more

Great waxing 6/5/2008

I recently moved to the area and had a bikini bare waxing at Hi-Tech. It was hard for me to part ways with my previous girl, almost feeling like a really bad break- up, but I was put with Katie. She made me so comfortable and was extremly professional but very cool at the same time. That could be a really awkward experience with someone new, but she was FABULOUS!!!! She suggested someone for my hair, so I will be back. Oh, she did facial waxing too and that was great as well. Pros: Lots of parking, promt Cons: Very busy at the desk more

Outragious price, mediocre quality of work & knowledge of hair cuts and especialy color/highlights. 5/10/2008

I was extremely disappointed after my experience at Hi-Tech Salon after my color and highlights, especially after being charged nearly $200!!!! I expected the hair stylist to have the maximum knowledge after supposedly being employeed at this salon for 9+ years and being in the industry even longer. After consulting with me for good length in time regards to what I was looking for, the stylist brought out swatches and matched to my hair and after looking at pictures and lengthy disscusion couldn't even deliver the results next to anything that I was looking for!! This was a simple dark(only one color) base and only one color of highlights, nothing fancy or complicated, and then to have been charged this OUTRAGIOUS bill of almost $200!! The price list doesn't even match to what I was charged. more

Hair Styling supreme 4/23/2008

I was getting bored with my hairdo and unfortunately I took scissors myself and did some damage. The stylist (Laura B) did a great job with fixing the damage and I now have a sleek style. Laura is very talented and I look forward to her handiwork again. Pros: plenty of staff & stylist took her time with my hair before cut Cons: did not notice any more

WORST OF EVERYTHING 4/7/2008

despite the reviews below, i decided to give hi tech the benefit of the doubt. not everything people say on the internet is true. well in this case they were RIGHT! horrible everything. cut/color/servce/attitude! NEVER again will anyone at this salon touch my hair. i write this review to warn you but if you dont believe me i dare you to go see for yourself... if you do go for an appointment here i offer you this comfort, it's only hair i will grow back. (thats the only thing that got me through the awful cut i received at this salon) Pros: none Cons: see review more

tacky color and cut. 1/3/2008

I needed to have my hair cut and colored for a very special New Year's Eve event. Most of the salons in the area were booked but when I called Hi Tech the receptionist assured me there was a stylist available for the amount of time my cut/color was going to take. (I explained to her that I have VERY long thick hair that tends to be stubborn with color) It ended up being a DISASTER. First, I had to wait 20 minutes when I arrived even though I was on time. I told the stylist I didn't want layers, but she added them in anyway. (Saying my hair was too thick and needed to be "broken up" whatever that means) She was incredibly abrasive and overbearing insisting she was the expert and I should just relax and let her do what she felt was best. I wanted some subtle high and lowlights blended in but she gave me streaks that look overprocessed and dated. By the time she handed me the mirror and flipped the chair around so I could see the back of my hair in the mirror I was nearly in tears. She offered to fix the color but I was running late and had to leave. Plus, I was scared to let her do any more! I ended up wearing my hair that night in an up-do that my friend did for me when I got home. AND I'm going to another salon next week to have the cut/color amended. All in all, it wasn't the worst experience I've had (my mom took me to have a poodle perm when I was 10) but I am very disappointed with the skills of my stylist at Hi Tech. Pros: its one of the only salons in south jersey. Cons: stylist was lacking technical knowledge. more

not impressed. 1/1/2008

the girl who cut my hair seemed rushed and the cut turned out sloppy as a result. she was also pretty clueless about technical knowledge and unaware of the current trends for shorter hair. my impression of hi tech is that its fine for what it is, an affordable neighborhood salon, but if you want anything creative or edgy, it's best to go elsewhere. at $45 my cut was priced fairly, but i won't be going back for another appointment. Pros: affordable Cons: if you're looking for something edgy or stylish, you wont find that here. more

Best salon in South Jersey!! 11/24/2007

No doubt about it, Hi Tech is 1 of South Jersey finest! The staff, the enviroment the result when you walk out the door .. it doesn't get much better. Everyone is so nice and great at what they do. I'm sure their are some exceptions, but I've had everything from color, to cut, to waxing, to massage to nails... did i miss anything? NEVER EVER did i walk out singing anything but praises. As for prices, i look at it this way, you get what you pay for. It's your HAIR the first thing people see when they look at you. Next time you have a problem with the price of your hair cut go to supercuts and pay 11 dollars... GUARANTEE you'll end up back at Hi Tech paying their price for them to fix it. Also when your new in town and need to find a new stylist, look at other peoples hair and if you like it ask them where they get there hair done. I'll betcha 8 times out 10 they'll say Hi Tech Hair and Spa in Northfield!!!! Pros: They don't look you up and down to see what your wearing before they greet you! Cons: Not enough parking more

WOW 9/9/2007

well first of all to the woman below me..if u knew anything about hair you would know that ur hair cant be all one length and be a wegde cut ...that makes no sense....second...you also have to realize when u bring in a picture odds are..majority of the time ur not going to come out looking like the picture bc..we all have different hair types, face shapes, and features...so no hair cut will look the same on everyone and that hair cut may have not worked well for you...Also if u werent happy with the cut...did u speak up and tell her that when she was all done cutting your hair? Or did u leave with a smile on ur face and then complain about it on city search??? Now on to my reveiw...I love high-tech salon and spa and I am a frequent client of theres and have had many services done by a number of different people. There have been occaisonal mix ups with appointments and maybe some minor problems..but when I SPOKE UP ( unlike some people) The staff was quick to solve problems or anything i was unhappy with. B/c of their professionalism and friendliness i continue to go there and i love it!! Thanks to all the staff at hi-tech!!!! P.S. Suzi i love my cut!!!! Pros: friendly atmosphere and great service Cons: No parking!!!!! and sometimes appointments ran a bit late more

bad cut. 8/9/2007

I just relocated to NJ from Orange County, CA. Not knowing where to go to have my long hair cut short, I chose Hi-Tech randomly and made an appointment. The stylist didn't take ANY time to discuss the cut I wanted with me. Instead of sitting down and talking, she rushed me back to the shampoo chair barely even glancing at the 3 example photos I had brought in with me. Once she got started, she hurried through the cut, and even though I was having about 7 inches taken off, she was finished in less than 20 minutes! I've had trims that took twice as long! The photos I had shown her clearly explained that I wanted my hair much shorter in back and longer in the front and she gave me an ugly wedge haircut instead of what I asked for. There was nothing she could do to shape the hair into what I wanted, after she was finished there was nothing left to work with. I left feeling very disappointed. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Hi Tech Salon. Pros: evening appointments Cons: see review. :( more

Ok Experience - but next time..... 7/13/2006

I loved how friendly everone was - BUT when I called I said I wanted a partial & they asked if I wanted my hair blown dry........I said "no blwn drying" and they blew dry my hair anyway - I was thinking "ok ten bucks no biggie" $26 to blw dry my hair! WAY TOOO MUCH! It was 5 minutes, no style and they didn't ask ahead of time or warn me about the $26 and they didn't even use any products like mousse or gels! They did exactly what I wanted with my hair color - but that extra $26 really upset me! Atleast give a warning or ask ahead of time!! Pros: Friendly - it's not a snooty place. Cons: $26 to have you hair blown dry! more

Love my hair!!! 9/30/2005

This is a message for Allison, who is my hairstylist at the salon. Allison, this is V from New York. I had my routine cut and highlights with you today. Just wanted to let you (and everyone reading this) know that I really love the way you did my hair today - I always do. The colors come out perfect and my layers come out really nice all the time! The two hour drive from New York is definitely worth it! I will miss you when I move to Florida. But come to think of it, it is only a two hour flight :) See you in 11 weeks! more
