Heyns Ice Cream

I begin by apologizing to Heyns...I honestly did not mean to forget you but I was reminded today that I had in fact neglected to review you and for that I am sorry. I don't know how I could have forgotten them....could it be "brain freeze"!?! probably, or perhaps it was the deliriousness of the moment of enjoying this ice cream...it does tend to erase all memories of others from your mind....at least while you are enjoying it.....(OK, I'm a fickle ice cream lover...sue me!) the simple fact about this ice cream is it has its roots right here in Iowa city. Not only is it a family owned and run business but it began many years ago using the milk from the family herd to make this ice cream! I honestly do not know if they still use only their own milk, but I wouldn't be surprised...this stuff is fabulous! If you are trying to find some "local" treat to celebrate a family function, company outing or just enjoy at home....get some of this ice cream...it is a dreamy concoction, straight from the heartland of America.......Iowa City! more

The ice cream is made right here in town - with milk from local cows! The Heyn family is famous for their fabulous ice cream. They have a nice little ice cream shop with parking right out front. They offer not only the standard vanilla, but lots of fun flavors too. Shakes, cones, sundaes, etc. are offered. All are very tasty! The owner is usually on site. Cute cow print (black/white spot) decoration through out the shop. more
