  • This is a good singletrack trail with a loop at the end. The hardest part of the ride is locating the trailhead. As you go through Poudre Park, a red bridge will be on your right about 200 feet outside the town at Poudre Park. The bridge is just before a gated area on the right that is posted as a fire lane; parking is prohibited. The bridge should never be crossed except by bike, even if the gate is open.

After crossing the bridge, the trail begins about 200 yards up the dirt road marked with a sign prohibiting motorized vehicles. The singletrack crosses the creek several times. At the first junction you encounter, go right through a short, steep draw. When you come up the other side of it you will encounter the trail returning down a sidehill on your left. Continue straight and complete a short, technical climb that leads up into an open meadow. Continue on this trail until you reach the next junction at the top of a steep short climb. Turn left to return to your starting point. This return is good singletrack that involves a very steep, loose downhill, which may force you to walk at times.

Getting there: Head north from Fort Collins on College Avenue (US-287). Turn left at the Conoco service station, where there's a sign for Poudre Canyon. Continue up the canyon for nine miles. Just past the Poudre Park community, there is a bridge crossing the river. The trail starts here, although parking is prohibited at the bridge. There is a Poudre Park picnic area approximately 0.75 miles farther up the canyon, where parking is permitted. Do not block the bridge or mailboxes at the bridge.
