We travel to Des Moine area and found this special German place by accident. The Staff is warm and friendly and remembered us many months later when we returned on our next visit to Des Moine. We made a point to order some authentic German dishes, and we were very impressed with the quality and the amount of food presented to us. Although the menu carries many American dishes... I would highly recommend you try some of the dishes and Good Beers the place is known for. This adds to the experience....Watching tables drink beer from ""The Boot"" is fun by itself... there are real rules to this game and a certain number of persons must play to have a boot delivered. We caught a very good authentic band in this establishment the night we were there.... I recommend a call ahead to get times when these musicians are playing. Before leaving ask the staff about the delicious apple drink. Enjoy! It is now a looked forward to stop every time we travel to Des Moine. Pros: Best version of Nachos ever w/sausage!! We went here because I like to try ""different."" Well, it wasn't all that different. It was different in that it had many animal heads on the wall and offered Boar meat (which is very delicious). One of the apps is a Boar Quesadilla ... I believe one of their biggest draws in a Boot of beer, which they (responsibly) state the amount of people a Boot must be shared by. Great if you are looking to (word not permitted ?) waste money and feel like you've done something culturally Des Moines, but do not go there hungry. The service is okay, I think.
