Hermosa Animal Hospital

This animal hospital is only interested in making money, bottom line. My cat has urniary tract infection and they didn't want to give him anything for it, but first, it had to have a $160 urine analysis charge plus exam fee, and pain medication fee. Nothing solved!! Cat was still in pain, peeing everywhere in house and in a great amount of pain. They seem to only want to talk about expenses the entire time... Other vets charge less than $100 for everything, and give you antiobiotics on the spot!! Will never revisit this vet again. more

I've been taking my dogs and cats to HAH for nearly 15 years. Over the years, I've seen all of the doctors at least once and, without exception, I found them to be knowledgeable and caring. Never once have they recommended an inappropriate procedure nor have they ever failed to recommend something that was medically necessary. I thought this place would be great from the reviews I read but I was dissapointed. My dog means every thing to me and I felt like she was just a $$ sign to them. The staff was not very friendly and the waiting room was far too hectic. My dog was stressed and I felt like the doctor didn't even spend 5 minutes with us. This hospital is very big, busy, and unfriendly. They care more about shuffling you through the door than about why you are there. The front staff is less than friendly and the doctors are okay. My pets mean everything to me and I don't think this hospital trully cares about that or me. Pros: They know how to spend your money Cons: They know how to spend your money! more

If you like large corporate vets than this is the place for you. This huge hospital has so many employees you can't possibly expect them to remember you or your pets name. They hike up their prices so they can afford their brand new corporate hospital. The front employees are rude, the doctors change every week, and the prices keep going up. I have been bringing my dogs to Hermosa Animal Hospital for over 10 years now. Dr. Liebel and Dr. Doane are excellent vets - both knowledge and ""petside manner"" - and my dogs adore them. Their newer facility is clean and spacious. The support staff is friendly and helpful. Both Dr. Liebel and Dr. Doane have performed needed surgeries over the years on my dogs plus are very good at diagnosing issues - they'll ask if you want to take a look under the microscope to see the parasite, bacteria, etc. that's causing the problem. I also recommend Dr. Jacks, but if you can ""score"" an appointment with Drs. Liebel or Doane I'd select them first. I would also agree with another comment that both Liebel and Doane will not try to push any unnecessary treatments or inflate the bill. Only gripe is I called to get my dog in one Saturday afternoon for what seemed to be a foot infection and I was referred to emergency because they were fully booked. Come on guys, if I?ve been a loyal customer for 10+ years, squeeze my pooch in! That info should be right there on the customer record in the computer. Aside from that gripe - which really has nothing to do with the quality of the vet care - H.A.H. has my unequivocal recommend. I have seen Dr. Moss and I think he is a very good veterinarian. He is caring, compassionate, and really seems to care about me and my pets. I also found out he opened his own hospital and is no longer working for that big corporate hospital in Hermosa anymore. All in all, this is a great veterinary hospital. Dr. Steve Liebl is by far the best, most knowledgeable, and the most experienced. Unfortunately, he is also the most dificult to score an appointment with, so there have been a few occasions when I have taken my dog to see Dr. Moss. Dr. Moss has both good and bad qualities, so I totally agree with ALL of the reviews I've read here, good and bad (except for perhaps some of the suspiciously OVERLY gushy ones written right after he apparently left the practice. Those are a little....suspect). Anyway, he definitely seems to be able to diagnose and treat animals correctly and do so on the FIRST try. He's smart and he knows his stuff. On the other hand, I canalso verify that, yes, he is extremely concerned with recommending as many tests and selling as much medication as possible (e.g. a $300 test for something that there's only a .9999999999% chance your dog may have). I'm not sure if it has to do with ethics or inexperience, but I do know that a large portion of what he gets paid on is not patients he sees but on medication that people buy. BTW, I understand that now that he left the hospital, he doesn't really prctice anywhere, he's just making housecalls in the South Bay area. I'm stiill sticking with Dr. Liebl. I would like to thank Dr. Jarrod Moss and his competent staff for providing excellent healthcare for my beloved dogs. Recently, our precious 18 month old dog had a spinal fracture and had to be put to sleep. The love and compassion from every staff member, including phone calls, condolence cards, and continued kind words has been helpful, and most of all, healing. I can honestly say, I recommend Dr. Moss to all my friends, family, and co-workers. I have worked in healthcare for nearly 30 years, so I'm very particular who cares for my pets! ""Dr."" Moss should have his license revoked. He does what he can to get the most money out of the patient. Don't waste your time and money - how do you think they can fund their new building? Do yourself and your pet a favor find a real vet who cares about the patients and not their money. Cons: Bad doctor and cost more

Dr. Moss must be the best vet in L.A. by far. He used to work in West L.A. at the VCA Animal hospital. We love him so much that we drive all the way to Hermosa to see him. He is very caring and truly cares about animals. Pros: Dr. Moss more

I have found the office to be friendly and efficient. We have had a golden Retreiver & three cats over the years. The doctors we're knowlegeable and thourough with health care and above reproach through a devasting period when our dog had cancer. They helped ease pain and gave a quality of life for as long as possible. Making a horrible situation bearable for our Family including the children. more

Well-qualified and caring doctors have taken excellent care of my ""furchildren."" Parking can be a proble, but they are moving soon to a larger facility. more
