Fries and Drinks Aplenty! 7/14/2010

Great local place to grab a great blue cheese burger or even a huge plate of fries (for low cost). The atmosphere is very laid back and they even offer hard ciders! For a non beer drinker, a very important thing. It's a great hang out spot if you wanna drink a beer/drink and munch down. more

Terribly run establishment with dishonest management 10/4/2009

Don't accidentally leave anything behind at Herbs, especially if it has any sort of value. The owner will claim that she has it and will get it back to you but after weeks of trying to get it back (including several phone calls and emails) you will find out that it was stolen by one of their employees in the meantime and nobody had the guts or bothered to let you know this. I call this terrible management and dishonest customer service. HERBS is truely a shameful dot on the city of Friday Harbor's map. Best place for beer 4/20/2009

My husband and I stopped in for a beer while we waited for some friends to get off the ferry. The pitchers are well priced, the best beer prices we found in all the restaurants we sampled that day. We enjoyed a pitcher and then returned later in the day. Decent bar food and the service was good. A good old fashioned tavern with lots of stuff to look at on the walls and several TV's with an array of sports. I'm sure we'll return if we go back to Friday Harbor. Pros: Good beer prices more

Best Hotdogs-Best Jukebox 4/26/2008

True, I haven't been to Herb's in a few years, but I have trouble believing the really negative review by "drunktom". Perhaps the reviewer's name should provide a clue to the validity of his review. When I went there, the service was great, the food very good, and I listened to $5 worth of music. I plan on going back to the San Juans next spring and I can't wait to get back to Herb's! Pros: Friendly staff, good food, great jukebox. Cons: None--after all, this is a BAR--in case negative reviewers don't notice! more

Unique island experience 2/10/2008

This place just stinks! From the smell of urine wafting from the mens bathroom, to the aroma of stale beer and rodent feces, yes rodent feces at the bar, you are in for a very "island" experience. Nowhere on earth is there a more rude bar staff. The sign that greets you upon entrance is; "I'm busy, your ugly, have a nice day". I'm not kidding, this place is unreal. Hey I'm sorry you hate your job as a bartender so much. Go do something else if you hate people. Pros: Good location Cons: Stinks more

Wonderful Without the Smoking 12/30/2005

We love a quick burger, beer, and cheap white wine and, now that we don't leave smelling like an ashtray, we can't wait to go back. There was a time that we endured the smoke to enjoy the local atmosphere but now that atmosphere, non-smoking, is easier to breath. A good place to meet lots of nice hard working folks and an occasional obnoxious boater ;-). The staff works hard to provide friendly service. Pros: Inexpensive, Pool Tables, Good Jukebox Cons: Not open 24hours more

Great food at great prices 11/12/2004

Since the last review or since City Search has visited SJ Island Herbs Tavern has been remodeled and updated! Still serving the Islands best Burgers and hand dipped Fish and Chips that compare to no other on the Island! I would have to say the DIVE bar was a little out dated and would take that as DIVE-IN and have some fun at the Islands only local, friendly, Tavern in town! Pros: friendly service, great prices more

I stop in for a fish and chips lunch every time I pass through town. Good food at a decent price in an otherwise overpriced vacation area. Pros: Decent prices, Neighborhood bar more

Herbs is a Hit!! 8/28/2002

We've been using Herb's Tavern now for a number of years and really get a kick out of the place. The best places to go are those with local regulars, and this is the place in Friday Harbor. Best burgers is very true, also great fish and chips, blues on the Jukebox, pool tables and pinball. Pros: Inexpensive, Quick, Fun more

    Herb's has been catering to local beer drinkers since 1938. There are a few pool tables and a jukebox, and the bar hosts the occasional live music or karaoke night. There's a good selection of beer on tap and more bottled varieties. And then there are the burgers, which are arguably the best and definitely the biggest around. Sandwiches, fish and chips, and the like are also available.
