was there, will never re grate what i did more

i WAS inCARCERATED AT HCJ FROM DEC 1, 2011 UNTILL JANUARY 12,2012 DURING THAT TIME I SPENT A WEEK IN WHAT THEY CALLED HOLDING. DURING THAT TIME STARTING MY MINSTRAL AND WASNT ALOUD TO SHOWER. I CAME IN WITH COLORED UNDERGARMENTS THAT I WASNT ALOUD TO KEEP AND HAD NO ONE TO SEND WHITES OR MONEY. THEY GIVE YOU 1 OUTFIT FOR YOUR ENTIRE STAY, 3 ROLLS OF TP A WEEK, ONE SHAVE DAY (SINGLE BLADE NOT WORTH A DAMN ) , TOE NAIL CLIPPERS ONE NIGHT. UPON BEING PLACED ON A UNIT I WAS ALOUD THE OPPERTUNITY TO SHOWER FINALLY HAVING BEEN THERE 8 DAYS. STILL HAD TO WEAR THE SAME OUTFIT THAT WAS BLOODY. YES THEY DID LAUNDRY TWICE A WEEK COLORS OVERNIGHT AND WHITES THE NEXT DAY. BUT WITH ONLY ONE JUMP SUIT AND NOW UNDERCLOTHES YOU CANT WASH YOUR UNIFORM WITHOUT BEING NUDE AND THAT WASNT POSSIBLE DUE TO MALE EMPLOYEES DUING SECURITY CHECKS DURING THE NIGHT. THE FOOD WASNT EVEN DOG FOOD. HELL MY ANIMALS EAT 10X BETTER THAN WE WERE BEING FEED. . more

Dear Hendricks County Sheriff: Your jail is overcrowded. Your theory of incarceration is faulty. I challenge the Hendricks County Flyer to wirte a real news story: jail conditions and attitudes of Avon Police Dept. and Hendricks County Jail. more

i spent 2 months in hendericks co jail it was freezing and it was miserble they treat you like crap like you was scraped off the bottom off of your shoes i had to wait 2 months before i went back to court had to hire a lawyer to get a sooner court date they dont care about anyone except your in jail so your a peice of crap more

I really can't rate this because it is very upsetting that when a male is incarcerated that they are not allowed for family members to bring clean white underclothes(undershorts, t-shirts, socks or thermals). For someone to be in the same under garments for 7 days is totally disgusting. It makes me wonder does any one that is higher up know what is going on in this County Jail. This male also has not been given the option to take a shower since he was incarcerated. This makes me sick to my stomach to think what possible disease or bugs this person may come home with when released. Come on Hendricks County Jail, these men and women in your care are also HUMAN BEINGS. No one is perfect, but no one deserves to be unclean and not given any hygiene for a week or longer. more

The ""Officers"" treat all that pass through the door like dirt. They are put out to answer questions or give information. I am sure if it were their own family they wouldn't speak to them the way I have been spoken to, and the way my husband is being treated. \r Many family members have told some stories that is just sad. Their loved ones sitting in jail for 6months to a year and half before a court date...broken showers, 2-3 men per cell because it's over crowded. Also denying PD because prior to their arrest they ""had"" a well paying job. \r People don't walk through life thinking.....I think today I want to go to jail..things happen..human mistakes. So HEY Hendricks County officers...remember your NOT perfect..and your people skills are horrible! Cons: Expect to be talked down to, and your loved treated like dogs while being an inmate. more

I can't believe the way the staff treats inmates with such disrespect! They are humans also, and at one point they may be in oranges if their ""dress-up"" uniforms do not keep them out of trouble! It is a shame that they use these items as a tool of abuse. Not one rule listed in the inmate handbook is followed i.e rec. time is only one example of many. The language used towards the inmates is disgusting and at one point they may want to realize that in one regard, these individuals pay their salary. Could anybody else speak to their boss this way? Not to say some are not where they should be but let's be realistic -probation violation for not reporting address change within 5 days? Serious? Just take a moment to reflect on the reality of this situation and try for an instant to put yourself in anothers shoes. It is humiliating for some to add offender to their resume and some do try very hard to stay on the right side of the law. Maybe Officer Duckwahl, Mitchell, Butts and some others should take just one second and realize they are ""CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS"" not police officers!!!!! They wear a brown uniform that displays NO BADGES OF HONOR!! Remember it takes not much more than a high school diploma and nothing more than a misdemeanor to obtain this position. With the book-in fees they shoud consider updating the jail, making it cleaner, the food a little better, and more classes available to motivate some people to better themselves. Jail CAN be used as a tool for change, instead of a place af humiliation and disrespect. Stop using your paid time to watch videos on the computer and check your my-space accounts! Just be the decent person behind these walls that you might be outside of them!!!!!! more

why can't Hendricks county jails put their inmates to work picking up trash or whatever so they don't spend their time calling 30-40 times a day trying to get someone to pay the outrageous price to talk to them? I am tired of getting these calls from my daughters exboyfriend just so he can say ""tell----- I love her"" before the operated recording starts. Can't the jailers find something constructivedor them to do? more
