I'd give zero stars if I could. Michael Khalil, MD and Ronald Gertsch both insisted I wouldn't have any costs unless I had a deductible. I have paid $16,000+ out of pocket, insurance paid almost $13,000 and I am being sued for another $15,760 plus interest & legal fees. For a simple colonoscopy & 1/2 hemorrhoid surgery. Khalil told me I probably had cancer & he'd have to go back in to remove the cancer. So, he only removed 1/2 the hemorrhoid. Their fees come to about $23,000 per hour, so are the extra procedures medically necessary or is it just a way to have more procedures at about $23,000/hour? Standard colonoscopy & minor hemorrhoid surgery. For perspective: I was at Duke Hospital Emergency room in NC for 2+ hours recently. I was charged a total of $1,100 of which I paid only $583 out of pocket. Their nasty little office & surgery room is no Duke Hospital! Healthcare Bluebook states for their zip code in San Diego, I should have been charged maybe $1200 for the colonoscopy and maybe $1800 for the (entire) hemorrhoid surgery at a major hospital!
