I've only visited Helezberg Diamonds on two occasions. The first was a trip to the Macomb store to have gems tested&have a ring guard put in the ring.Wonderful&fast service. My second visit was this morning at the Oakland Mall store. I hadn't planned on going in much less buying anything. Iwas in the mall having a ring inspected/cleaned at another jewelry store.I also needed a recently purchased ring buffed&polished. The other store(where I'd bought a rather expensive white gold diamond as a b-day gift for myself)couldn't buff/polish the ring. They said it had to be sent out&would take two weeks.I went to another store that was said to have an on site jeweler. They said they could do it but wanted $40 dollars for the privelage!Yikes!!I went to still another store&waited for that store to open.I waited over 20+mins for the store to open.Odd considering it was 10:30 in the morning&the store was due open@10:00am. I hope the owner is okay.Anyway,I was about to give up&head home.I'd resigned myself to having to let that other place fleece me out of $40 to buff&polish my ring. Then a light bulb went off!Ding!""Take a look in Helzberg!""Actually I was just browing planning to wait a bit longer for the late opening store owner.Well I browsed through Helzberg's store, telling the very polite woman(Janet)that I wasn't buying today. She couldn't have been more personable! She showed me a couple of rings that caught my eye&treated me to a lovely conversation. Then along came Nancy who also very very polite&inviting.A ring caught my eye& I thought ""Oh no!I'm in trouble again.I'm gonna end up buying this ring!""Yikes!(lol). Long story short(too late right)I didn't buy that ring because it was a size too small, thank goodness(wink)but they told me of another ring that I might fancy. That ring was out of stock but Janet and a very friendly young man called Billy looked the ring up on line so I could have a look at it. Janet was kind enough to call the Macomb store to see if it was in stock so they could ship the ring to the Oakland location. I decided not to have the ring shipped.I thanked them for the time, the friendly/warm conversation and was about to leave when Nancy reminded me about the restyle event coming up in Sept. While I was filling out an info card Billy asked if I'd like anything cleaned.I first said no and then remembered the ring I was so eager to have buffed&polished(another light bulb went off lol). I showed him the minor scratches&asked if he could do anything to make the ring look better. No problem he said.He took it in back&a few minutes later came back with my ring.Billy made it look showroom factory brand spanking shiny new!!! I asked him, wallet in hand, what the charge was & he said""Oh nothing"". I would've gladly paid whatever price he thought to name. That, and the friendly conversation Janet&Nancy treated me to,has made me promise myself to go to Helzberg's restyle event.I'll purchase something whether I want to or not. It's not very often these days where I come across a retail staff as friendly,as invited, and as accomodating as Nancy,Janet,&Billy were to me.In an age where Customer Service seems to be a foreign&alien concept to the retail world the three employees at Helzberg's Diamonds made me feel as though I'd told them I had a few million dollars to spend in their store. My first brief visit to Helzberg was nice but this second visit today made me know that there's no other place in the retail world that I'd rather spend my money on jewelry than Helzberg Diamonds Oakland Mall.
