Great hangout! 5/8/2011

I love going here on a Friday or Saturday night! You can count on a great band playing and the place being filled with people. Get there by 8:00 to secure a table for the night! This place is large, but I really think they can expand even more with the crowds they are because it gets very crammed. As far as the restaurant goes, food is average, no complaints but I mainly go for the bar. They also need a bigger parking lot, very difficult to find a spot after 8:00. Drink prices are ok, defintely not the cheapest, but not as expensive as going to the landing. more

Great Place 1/22/2010

Everytime I go to Helens I can either go to the bar side, the arcade, or even a dinning room that looks absalutley great. The service is very nice and I have not had a problem for the past ten years i have been going there. I would highly recomend going to Helens and having a great time. Then comes the food comes. From the pizza to wings, the food is great. If you want good food and a fun enviorment, Helen Fitzgeralds is the place to go. Pros: Great service, and a friendly/fun atmosphere Cons: None more

THE STAFF ARE THIEVES 11/4/2008

ABSOLUTELY do not use a credit/debit card here. I was in a group of 4, and they charged my bar bill at over $120!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We did not eat ANYTHING, and there is NO WAY 4 people drank that much!!! There was no place to sit; we only stayed because the $6 per person cover is absolutely non-refundable. The bartenders ARE thieves, just like another reviewer states. This business needs to be investigated. more

Don't go here 5/20/2008

My wife fell ill after eating here. When I addressed it the manager was extremely rude. I have requested a refund of our dinner. We will see what happens. Pros: None Cons: Violent illness more

Bar tenders - out right thieves ... 5/2/2008

All other things aside. Use your credit card to run a bar tab. review your receipt and statement. EVERY time I run a tab at the bar, I get burned. Just last night, my receipt for me and a gal was 23.25. No tip because I leave cash tip. (Not lately do to this issue though!) Came home, looked it up on BOA, and it is 27.50. Don't even get me started on the bar keeps, cute but useless little Barbie dolls ... Pros: lots of people to meet Cons: don't run a bar tab!!! You WILL get burned. Try it, you'll see... more

NO CUSTOMER POLICY 12/31/2006

At first it appeared to be a decent happy hour bar so I decided to try at night. Lousy wings an understatement . On our (My wife and I) last of many visits the same was true I have had better from a frozen box from the Grocers. After complaining the punk/kid/manager forced us to pay or the police would be called. After paying the bill I attempted to complain at the door and was shoved out by restaurant employees. We called the Sunset Hills Police who arrived and said there was a video of us at the door being shoved out. The police apologized but we would have had to press charges against five restaurant employees. We complained to management who ignored the letter. If you are willing to put up with anything just to meet people there go for it. The musical entertainment stinks at best (Third rate garage bands or Dr. Shevegas, raise a lit bic lighter) and the prices are crazy for frozen box food. Pros: Draws large crowds because there is a lack of good dance clubs in STL Cons: Poor food, poor service, management could care less about you more

repeat customer 5/18/2005

I always hate to read reviews which are not current and based on one negative experience. After reading some of the reviews posted I felt compelled to write my own. We have been going to Helen Fitzgerald's for at least six years. We have frequented both the restaurant and bar and have even used the banquet room for a family event. The food is always great and the portions are large. (Great value) The service varies at times, which is what we find at many of the places we go! The fact that this place has been around for over 12 years and has a full parking lot should speak for itself! Pros: great food, great bands, good crowd more

Regulatory authorities, shut it down! 12/17/2003

My wife and I upon entering were told WOMEN DRINK FREE TONIGHT and we were charged one cover charge not two. Only one table was open as we seated ourselves because there are too few tables. We had to corner the teenage waitress repeatedly to get served. The Buffalo wings were cold the hamburger and fries were average. We ran a tab; upon settling up a big surprise my wife was charged for every drink. My wife complained to the waitress who said she was not responsible for comments made at the door, asking for the manager she was told he did not want to be bothered. Complaining to the door person we were told we must have confused women drink free with women free cover and we were suddenly pushed out the door by four members of the staff and told not to return. Pros: being barred Cons: no customer respect, no refund policy, uncaring management more

VIP baby!! 11/29/2002

This bar is a standing place for myself and my crew! We have become regulars to say the least! Not only do the have a live band almost everyday of the week when the band takes a break you can get on the dance floor and shake your groove thing to the D.J. more

  • In Short
This spot is a casual, boisterous bar with a loyal following, especially on St. Paddy's Day. Game nights can get pretty crazy here, too. Like most sports bars, the emphasis is on finger food and fried fare. The burgers are good, as are the sandwiches and appetizers. And you're safe coming to happy hour hungry because the buffet is free--yet another reason why it's is almost always crowded and its patrons are always smiling.
