I was so excited to find this place. Unfortunately, it is not a friendly, nor comfortable, place. When you first walk in the door, you see a LARGE television blasting Fox News. Next, on our right is a set of steps with a sign, ""No children allowed upstairs."" My friend and I have our 2 year olds with us. It looks like an antique shop/museum. I'm not sure which it is, but the place is filled with it. And in the back is a small coffee bar with a cooler of baked goods. They don't make lattes, only cappuccinos. They don't have half and half, only powdered cream and milk. The coffee was weak. At my previous visit, after finishing my frozen capp., I was told it was decaf; I did not order, nor want, decaf.\r
During this visit, the owner is hovering around us. My friend picked up a model airplane. (I still have no idea whether all the stuff on the shelves in there is for sale or for show). She was immediately informed of how expensive, $200, and old it is. She didn't hand it to her son; she was just looking at it. We realize then that we have to leave. We are not welcome there. So then as she's grabbing her bag her son walks behind her and touches something at floor level right behind our table. The man comes over and says, ""He's going to have to stay seated or something! That costs $800! If he breaks it you have to buy it!"" Then he storms off to the back. As we're headed for the door, the only other patrons in there whisper to us about Texas Java Coffee House in Belton. He said as soon as it opens, this place will probably lose a lot of business. I have to add that this man probably supports the troops based on his political paraphernalia you can see in the shop. I don't think he realized that these two 30-something moms (us) were actually one of us a two-time Iraq war veteran and the other a spouse of an Iraq war veteran. I BEG you to please not give this man business! His rudeness is uncalled for and should not be supported. Please visit the Texas Java Coffee Company.
Pros: Cinnamon buns are good
Cons: Television, antiques, not child-friendly nor welcoming to children, Rude owner. Poor drink selection. Serves only decaf Frozen Cappuccinos without disclosing it.
