I've read extreme reports about this company. I'm an old German Sheppard person and know quite a bit about the dog - which I adore!! However if this is a puppy mill I will bring...

Stay AWAY! 8/7/2011

Breeders are breeding dogs with diseases; I've had/have 3 from them; 1 died other 2 sick Boarding: OMG Negligence!!! Owner's do not take responsibility. Save yourself anguish, go someplace else. more

The entire buying experience was wonderful! 8/3/2011

I have 3 puppies from this breeder and I will never buy a German Shepherd anywhere else. The dogs are healthy, beautiful and very loving and sweet. They are all a German Shepherd should be. They are always available to you before and after you bring your puppy home. The entire buying experience was wonderful! more

I am so glad I went here 8/1/2011

This place is a gem! Not only are they passionate about German Shepherds, they are also passionate about the health and wellness of their litters. The dogs are all so beautiful and healthy. I am convinced that this is by far the best breeder around. I am so glad I went here to purchase the newest addition to our family! Everyone is well educated and they care more about the puppies than making money. I strongly recommend Heidelberg German Shepherd to anyone looking for an amazing, healthy German Shepherd! more

VERY DISAPPOINTED 6/4/2010

I was originally excited to purchase a dog from Heidelberg, they have a great looking facility but then you meet the owner and immediately your BS meter goes off. Our dog is the only dog I've ever purchased that went home with worms. He gives crazy advice that he has little to zero formal training on (see other other reviews). At the end of the day, we have a dog with below average intelligence (compared to the many other shepherds I've owned), very bad hip dysplasia at only age 7 and most people think she is not a full grown dog because she is so small. I wish I would have researched this place before I bought her. She's a wonderful pet but will probably not have a long life. Our vet has seen many dogs from Heidelberg and hip problems at a very early age is very common with their dogs. Our vet couldn't say anything good about this kennel. Heidelberg will tell you that hip problems are caused by poor diet. They are out of their mind, its all breeding. Specifically, THEIR poor breeding. They also offer ""guaranteed hips"". That guarantee is completely worthless. I can not recommend this place in any capacity. Pros: sweet dog Cons: hip problems at age 7, poor intelligence and very small more

DOG KILLERS 4/10/2009

We have boarded with Heidelberg in the past with no incident. In September we boarded my Mother-in-law's 10 year old Corgie mix. She has been boarded many times before, but never with Heidleberg. While there, the employes cliped her nails 2 days prior to our picking her up(we had asked them not to clip her nails til the morning that we were to pick her up). That night she managed to escape from the unlocked pin that she was being kept in. Keep in mind this was a 40+ lbs dog. The owner called us after they realized that she had been missing for almost an hour. When we arived to help look for her, the owner had his dog with him ( to help look for our dog). We asked him to put his dog away that it was not helping, he refused. He just kept asking if she would find her way home. We told him no, since she had just moved here from NY. After 20 min, the owner and staff quit looking for the lost dog and stated that they would start again after 9am the next morning. Our dog was found by us the next morrning before 9 am. She had been run over many times on Riely Fuzzle. We had to call Heidleberg to let them know. They denied any responsiblity stating that this 10 year old dog climed the fence. They wouldn't even pay for her disposal. I would never board with them again.\r \r Cons: DOG KILLERS more

Terrible contract, sick dogs 1/4/2008

My dad bought a dog at Heidelberg kennels. Do not be taken by their beautiful facility. In my opinion they are nothing but a fancy puppy factory. \r This puppy was diagnosed with crippling elbow dysplasia which any vet will tell you is inherited. You can read more information about this at the website of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.\r \r When I called Mr. Thompson to let him know, he said it was because I did not feed his food, and the dog had ""stomach worms"", causing him to be dysplastic. He implied he was undernourished. The dog weighed 115 pounds and was 30 inches tall. He'd been fed Iams all his life, and wormed monthly as are all my dogs.\r \r Mr. Thompson threated to take me to court for telephone harrassment if I ever called him again.\r \r In the dog world, they are known for their inappropriate dealings with people. It's only the novice who will buy a dog from them. Like I said, don't be fooled by the facility and read the contract very carefully.\r more

Bad Business 6/1/2007

I do not recommend buying a dog from Heidelberg German Shepherd. The 1st reason is that when I went to purchase a pet they said I could not buy the dog unless I signed an agreement stating that I would only feed the dog their dog food and if I didn't I could not buy the dog.\r Through channels I did get a dog an it died 3 days later. I paid 1500.00 trying to save the dog's life w no avail. I was told it was caused the nutrition .\r I will never purchase another dog where they put these type of restrictions and rules for a dog. more
