Heartwood Montessori School

Even prior to my getting married and having fraternal twin boys with my wife, I was convinced that Heartwood Montessori was where i was going to send my children. The reason being was that a friend of mine had her two children attend Heartwood for their kindergarten and elementary school years and both children excelled in their education after graduating from Heartwood. The school is serious about their Montessori training and equipment. Each classroom has a full complement of work for the student to prepare them for the coming years. My boys have been there since age 3 in preschool and this year started kindergarten. Their abilities in mathematics, reading, geography, earth sciences, and many other topics have improved consistently over the past 3 years. The atmosphere at Heartwood Montessori is warm and inviting. There are always engaging works for them to complete that change with the seasons. The teachers work closely with each student from toddler age onward. When we moved from daycare to Heartwood when they were three, we could see real signs that they were learning skills that they had not been exposed to at the previous school. Our boys not have learned academically, but also socially. Our boys, in separate classrooms, have been able to experience both being a leader and being part of a group. These social skills will help them as they grow up. more

My daughter has been a Heartwood since she was 18 months old. She is now 6. She loves the school and the teachers. She is highly energetic & intelligent and keeping her focused and engaged is a challenge. But the teachers and the Montessori Method is an excellent fit for her. She is supported and encouraged to challenge herself and to be self sufficient. It is such a joy to see her bounce out of bed and be excited about going to school. In the first grade they are learning to develop a weekly plan and work to complete it each week. As a parent, I have helped in many of the volunteer activities. There is usually good participation from other parents and there is good direction and leadership from the Heartwood staff in directing the parents on volunteer days. Parents are free to volunteer as much or as little as they wish. We absolutely love this school, the Montessori approach to learning and the Heartwood teachers!!! more

Excellent and genuine Montessori Education - celebrating 20 years! I am proud to be sending my 6 year old son for his second year to a very nurturing, caring, and peaceful educational environment. Beautiful classrooms where teachers take pride in their surroundings that they teach their students in. We have had our 4 year old at Heartwood for a year, and will place our 2nd there as well, as soon as she is old enough! The environment is loving, nurturing..and presents the mental stimulation busy toddlers need. I will always remember the day Liam came home singing his continents. My children have attended Heartwood Montessori for 7 years, one since kindergarten, and one since age 3. I can't say enough good things about the kindness and excellence of the staff. Most lead teachers have been with the school for years, much longer than my kids have attended. I have watched my children blossom into self-confident, engaged students, unafraid to ask questions or ask for help. Go observe a class in session and see for yourself!!! more
