Let me tell you a little about these guys. You know all the horrible things that the movies make a used car salesman out to be? Well these guys are the inspiration for all of that. Walking talking stereotypes of what every bad notion of a used car salesman is.
I bought a durango from them a couple months ago and from the first half of an hour (not even playing, I had a chance to get gas and get from St. Paul to Vadnais Heights) I started to have a problem with it. The truck would idol so hard that I had to double food the break just to keep it from jumping into the rear of the cars in front of me. I called the dealer that very next morning and was directed to the mechanic. That guy pushed the point that the truck was ""as is"" and that I would have to pay to get it looked at.
I had my father take a look at it since he is also a mechanic and he told me that the truck needed a new sensor and also that someone had deleted the Ac compressor pulley so the engine was running faster than normal. Ok, so I buy the sensor and I have the idol adjusted, end of story? NOPE!! Read on!
Next I am driving and I hear the truck make a chiming sound and see that my oil pressure dropped to nothing and then went back up again. But the problem did not repeat so I didn't worry too much. Until it started to do it to me every time I would accelerate, stop, turn, or even make a curve. If I adjusted the speed/direction in any way it would drop the oil pressure and chime at me. So obviously I decided to take it off of the road for repair. However, I again made the choice not to use the mechanic on site at the dealerships since he was about covering his companies bottom and not actually fixing the issues with the truck.
Then my bad news came along. The mechanic by my house (not my dad this time) took the truck into his shop and had told me that I needed to replace my oil pump along with a screen. He said the oil had so much of a build up in it that it was stopping the pump from working properly and that I was lucky the engine didn't blow. This repair is $500.00.
I found this out on a Saturday. Later that night on my way to work I stopped at my mailbox to get my mail and found a letter from the state. The letter stated that my truck had been totaled in a crash and could not be given a title until all the parts that had been replaced had been inspected. The company has no such records of this repair, and had never stated to me that this truck had ever been damaged. Even when I asked them directly if it had been. The owners told me to bring the paper into them to get a date set, but they want to bring the truck into the state themselves. I figure it is so they can do some damage control on my part to keep me from finding out the true details of how badly this thing was damaged before being slapped together and sold back to me. If I was told of this before hand I would have understood what I was getting into, but the fact that I was never told about the accident with it, and the salvaged title, I'm more than just a little pissed at this place. If I could have given them minus rankings I would have.
