I work across the street and have been dining at this place for over a year. The best lunch buffet deal in town! Friendly staff, delicious naan bread, rich curries, etc. Recently i noticed the quality of food has declined. Chicken tikka masala is very runny and bland. Curried vegetables are over cooked and oily. Come on guys i love this place, but what happened to the food? I used to go there once a week, now it's been once a month. Recently my indian fix has been the instant stuff from whole foods. Please read this and step up the food quality and i'll be back weekly. tah tah Pros: Across the street from my office. If you are looking for authentic Indian Food this place is tops. They even have Vegetarian Mulligatawny soup!! And it is excellent. This place is so reasonably priced and the servers are so nice and accommodating. Each order is made for your own specific taste. They ask you if you want your food prepared mild medium or spicy. I went here on a whim last night and was so impressed I wanted to go back for lunch today!! The only difficult thing is the location. It is on Sepulveda across from Whole Foods at a very busy intersection. However, there is parking in the back though which you can get to via Dickens St. I didn't know that until after the fact. There is a cluster of restaurants on that block. I really enjoyed dining at The Heart Of India, excellent food, nice servers and a nice yet comfortable atmosphere! I will be going back soon! We like heart of india cafe which has a great rating. The food was good and the service was INCREDIBLE. Our waitre even give us free dessert to celebrate my pregnancy.The prices are really good better than other indian resturent in valley. The restaurant is quite lovely and after dinner you can walk down and catch the show at ark light. Worth a try VERY good. Try the Chicken Vindaloo - very spicey! more

Wow !! Lamb boti and coconut chicken curry with rice, garlic naan. This restaurant serves the freshest food on sat. Night. I don't know it was me or the food was so great that I wanted to give such high ratings here. But i brought a gf there and we were soooooo enjoy these dishes and we couldn't stop eating and make good comments at the same time!! Give it a try. more

This is the first time I have used citysearch. I recently went to heart of india cafe in sherman oaks for the first time. I haven't had Indian cuisine in awhile. Let me tell you-- Food is amazing. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is also romantic and relaxing, with Indian decorations of course, great music. The lamb and chic tikka masala was great. Try the spinach naan. Everything was superb. I can't wait to go back. staff was very nice and friendly. more

I tried heart of india Cafe for lunch last week. The Chicken Tikka Masala was out of this world! The flavor was so wonderful I forgot to ask for chutney which I usually need for extra spice. Make sure you order the Naan (Indian bread) it is soft and fluffy and warm like they just baked it. Try dipping the Naan in everything or eat it like a burrito with the rice and tikka masala inside...omg my mouth is watering thinking about it! Also I LOVED the dressing on my salad, it had the right amount of tangy and delicious. They do catering too so hopefully I can get my company to venture away from the boring sandwiches at our meetings. Pros: best best best more

WOOHOO AS GOOD AS IT GETS.After my first visit I was hooked. At present I go at least twice a week. The staff is curtious and the establishment is clean. The only downside is the parking, but you can PARK IN THE BACK. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, although I have not had a bad dish. As a word of caution the ""hot"" (spicy) dishes are extremely spicy. i love to go to the restaurant specially when they own and operate by the family.... more

I didn't like Indian Food until I came here for lunch one day with co-workers. The Chicken Tikka Masala is the best I've ever had. The food is prepared excellent. I have tried many indian restaurants in the Los Angeles area and I think this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the San Fernando Valley. Their dishes are prepared with just the right amount of spices and blends. The chef's definitely know what there doing here when they make this food. The prices are reasonable and the delicious weekend buffet is most certainly a good choice to keep you full. The service is great also.
