  • I am a clinical psychologist and I employ a family systems theoretical perspective in doing counseling with adults, adolescents, and children. Depending upon the particular person and his or her specific area of concern, I will conduct individual, couple/marital, or family sessions to help individuals gain insight into the dynamics of his or her family of origin. Moreover, we discuss in detail the manner in which these behavior patterns and unresolved issues are currently influencing the client's relationships with spouses, children, in-laws, friends, co-workers, supervisors, employers, and other significant individuals in his or her life. During counseling sessions, we focus on strategies that the client can employ to more clearly define a stronger and healthier sense of self, including relaxation techniques, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and assertiveness training. Similar strategies are employed to fortify the identities of each individual participating in couple/marital or family sessions. When a child or adolescent exhibits behavioral symptoms, an important component of the child's treatment often involves addressing underlying family issues. I strongly feel that my strengths include an engaging personal warmth, an appropriate use of humor, and an openess to discussing spiritual issues if the client desires to do so..
