I subscribe to La Confidential and Brentwood mags and kept seeing blurbs on this store and finally decided to check it out today. Just like in the mags, the store is very posh and eco/customer friendly (separate restrooms for male/female, back-lot parking, and they even carried my 25lb dog food bag to my car) But what really awe-inspired me about this store was the doggy adoptions (Sundays). To be frank, I purchased my dog at a store over 4 years ago without knowing all the ins and outs of puppy mills, etc. But since having my dog, I have become vegetarian, shop mostly organic and am very much into animal rights. \r

So Healthy Spot converts their doggy day care to have over a dozen adoptee-dogs run cage free waiting to be adopted. It was pretty heart breaking to hear all the stories of the dogs that were waiting to find homes. It was pretty wild to see all these dogs having fun in a pseudo-grass park seeming to forget their worries, if just for today... I saw a family adopt a dog and I now understand what they meant by Kodak moments... \r

I talked to one of the owners and asked why he decided to open HS and simply said, ""because my dog's love is priceless."" No matter how bad his day was, the moment he say his dog, nothing else seemed to matter. I felt his genuineness and he definitely wears his heart on his sleeve. He felt he was born to really fight for something much bigger and grander in scale. That's some sort of customer service I never experienced in this land that thrives and fights based on customer service. \r

Since becoming a dog lover, I can completely relate to the owner and motives of this store. For once, I actually believe Healthy Spot is a store striving for eco-friendliness, educating the public, fighting for dog/animal rights, and not just doing it to join the ever so popular Go Green band wagon. I was pretty touched and from what I heard, saw, but more importantly, felt today, I definitely give the green light.
Pros: Sunday cage free adoptions, Rewards program for savings, Community newsletter to inform public, Beautiful ambiance, pseudo grass for dogs to play, 2 separate customer friendly restrooms
Cons: Wish they could have adoptions everyday!
