So when I was pregnant and someone from Healthy Families called me and asked if I would like to sign up once my baby was born. I was clueless as to what this program was about. I agreed to an initial visit mostly because they promised to bring gifts for my baby. No, I am not proud of this, but I hadn't had my baby shower yet. I still wasn't sold after that first meeting, it felt like I was being quizzed and tested. Boy, was I wrong. I blame the pregnancy hormones for my paranoia. I cannot tell you how valuable this program has been to me in the last 14 months. I count the 2 ladies who have visted me as not just friends but valuable resources for advice( the kind I actually want) and ideas. My baby adores these visits as do I. They were my only regular company for months. They don't ever tell you how to parent but they can tell you tips and facts andthings to help you gauge your child's development. Plus they hold group days every month. Sometimes they are like a field trip to somewhere cool like the Zoo or the pool, sometimes more of a playgroup. They are always free or almost free. It was 3 dollars to go to the Indianapolis Zoo, including admission, transportation, lunch, drinks, and sunscreen. I can't say enough good things about these guys.
