Editorial review from Citysearch 9/27/2013

I am writing this to all the brides and their attendants who are considering Head to Toe for dresses. This place is horrible! My Step Mom ordered her dress here and they said it would be in on time and what not however I encouraged my Step mom to cancel the order because the delivery date was 3 days before my wedding. Absolutely Not. They bullied my Step Mom because she is a very meek and mild women. They were quite different when the not so happy bride called and needless to say they actually did the right thing and refunded all of her money after speaking with me. Now my birth mom got her dress here as well and when she ordered it they stated with 3 witnesses that it would be here 4 weeks prior to the wedding. Well when that promise wasn't fulfilled she called them they state different 3 times it would be shipped on the upcoming Friday. Mind you these are three different Fridays. My mom even paid rush shipping on the dress and got it 3 weeks before the wedding. They were horrible what would have happened to my Step Mom if they would have played these games with her? WARNING!!!! NEVER EVER GO HERE. Horrible service, prices are to high and I swear they are shafting their customers. more

Do not go to this bridal shoppe. They don't order correct sizes and then are rude, rude, rude people. They will not work well with you, especially if you are out-of-town. I tried going here for a prom, when in high school, about 10 years ago and they were so bad... now, even with changed management, they are even worse, as I had to go to them as a bridesmaid. Please don't put yourself or your bridal party through their poor customer service. more

Poor response to error, lack of professionalism! 7/11/2011

I really wish I would have read reviews before going to Head-to-Toe, but my first few experiences there were great so I didn't realize the problems until it was too late. I had few problems with the dress selection process, though the prices were significantly higher than I was expecting, and the consultant picked out several dresses that were above my budget (of course one of them happened to be the dress I fell in love with!). I experienced problems when my dress was officially ordered. While they had me sign my initials to indicate the size I wanted to ensure they could not be accused of any wrongdoing later, I was unaware that the size they had written down for me was not the size I had requested based on the dress size I actually tried on! When I tried on a size that fit snugly, I asked the consultant to order one size bigger just for comfort and in case I gained a few pounds. Instead of a size bigger, they ordered a size smaller! When my dress came in and did not fit, I was horrified...Granted, I had gained a few pounds as I suspected I might, but I had not gained enough to not zip the dress! When we realized the initial measurements did not match the size that should have been ordered for me, the consultants immediately went from sweet and accommodating to nasty and inconsiderate. They became defensive and took absolutely no responsibility, citing that I had signed my initials so they were not liable. I was not as upset with the fact that the wrong dress had been ordered (because it was partially my fault for signing before confirming the size was what I wanted), I was extremely distraught at the disrespect and rudeness of the women. Only one woman, who happened to be the seamstress from upstairs, was comforting and said that they would do everything they could to make it fit and not to worry--and she did in fact do so (for a hefty fee of course). The least I would have hoped for was for the shop to cover the cost of taking the dress out, which would have probably fit if the right size had been ordered. Overall, I was deeply disappointed with this treatment from the employees and I would never recommend anyone go there unless you are sure nothing will go wrong. I completely understand that these bridal shops need to cover their butts, but I certainly still expected a degree of professionalism and for them to own up to their mistakes. more

Head to Toe, the only place to go! 9/28/2010

I don't know what Head to Toe these past reviewers have gone to, but it's certainly not the one I trust all my formalwear needs to! more

Very disturbing 11/28/2009

I purchased a very expensive dress for a special social event I was attending. After waiting several months for the arrival of my dress I made the mistake of inquiring when it would be delivered. I was verbally attached, accused of not trusting the business ethics of this shop. As I feared, the dress never arrived. Three days before my event I went to a different bridal shop near- by, purchased the same dress, they easily had it shipped over night, altered and ready for me for my party. No fuss, no drama. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Life is difficult enough, there are many reputable, pleasant specialty shops in this area. Don`t put yourself through the drama of shopping at Head to Toe. Pros: hmmmm Cons: too many to mention more

Horrible Experience 10/12/2009

Horrible experience! Mother of the Bride I purchased a gown for my daughter's wedding and took it upstairs from Head To Toe to their alterations shop, Thread To Sew. I was very dissatisfied with the workmanship and the nonchalant attitude of the staff. My gown was hemmed too short and therefore I had to purchase another pair of shoes. The gown was altered, but was still too big on top. I went back at least three times, to no avail. They insisted it looked fine and the straps and double sided tape would make it fit better. I finally left with the gown, paying $85 in alteration fees for a gown that would not be wearable. Two days before the wedding I found a tailor in my community and he could not believe the poor workmanship and the fact that they had no concern for their reputation. He removed parts of the alterations and took the top of the dress in by three inches. He said he would have the dress ready and it would be all that I had imagined for my daughter's special day. He was right. I don't know why this was not done the first time and correctly by Thread To Sew who claim to be professionals. I spoke with the co-owner the following week in regards to my dissatisfaction and additional fees to fix the gown. She felt I had rectified the problem myself and I could wear the gown, so she did not see a problem. No apology, no compassion, nothing. She ended with if I did not choose to go there again, that was my choice. With that she ended the call. I will not patronize their dress shop or alterations department and will never recommend their shop. Cons: lack professionalism more

dishonest business 9/27/2009

I was a mother of the bride. My dress was ordered in a size too big, even when I questioned this, the order was put through in a larger size. Waited many months for the dress to come in knowing it had to be altered, when I questioned the date of arrival for my dress I was accused of being beligerant. I have never been beligerant my whole life. My dress never came in and when I questioned why this happened, I was screamed at so badly I was shaking afterwards. Would never recommend this place for any event ever. Pros: hmm Cons: lied to more

Highly disappointed 9/8/2009

This is my first time I have ever been a bridesmaid and Head to Toe made it a stressful experience. The employees were extremely rude. When I came to pick up my dress to be fitted I stood there for 10 minutes until one of the five girls/women behind the counter helped me. The seamstress took 5 minutes to pin my dress. When I returned for the dress it did not fit, it was still too big. I wanted the seamstress to take the dress in more, b/c the top was hanging off of me, and she said the dress fit fine. Luckily, my great aunt is a seamstress and fixed the dress for me. Cons: terrible costomer service, lack of experience more

worst bridal salon, verbally abusive without reason 9/8/2009

I am the mother of the groom, I paid form my very expensive dress in full. Two weeks before the wedding I called to inquire about my dress, was told it shipped that day. The week before the wedding I called and was told it shipped that day and would be in in three days. Four days latter, three days before the wedding, still no dress. When I asked if my dress was in I was verbally abused, screamed at so loudly that my co-workers could hear theconversation across the room. I would never speak to anyone that way. Still no dress Pros: no pros more

Terrible experience, NOT recommended! 9/5/2009

I bought my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses here and it was a terrible experience. They told me that they do not order dresses in and only sell what's in stock (which turned out later to not be true) and ended up selling me a size 14 dress. They also insisted I needed to purchase a seperate bra for it. Well I took it to another seamstress (after reading reviews on here) and she told me I actually needed a size 4-6 dress and there was already a bra built in it. My seamstress also said that she had an entire closet full of dresses that had been altered wrong from Head to Toe that people had brought in for her to fix. The bra I bought from them was still sealed in it's bag so I called to try and return it and the owner started yelling at me (I consider myself a very calm, shy and curtious person) and hung up on me. I had a relative call back and she hung up on him too. Neither one of us was yelling or cursing or doing anything disrespectul to warrent that. When my bridesmaids had their dresses altered they botched one of the jobs so much that it had to be realtered 3 times! It ended up costing a fortune. I wish that I had listened to the negative reviews on here from the start but as you know sometimes it's hard to trust a review written by someone else. You think, oh that was just one bad incident, some people complain about everything (which trust me I do not) or there are problems with every wedding dress shop..and that may be true but no one deserves to be treated that way by the owners and staff of a place were you are spending so much money. I do not recommend them at all but if you do go there please keep in mind what I told you. You can't say you weren't warned! Cons: Rude, dishonest owners more

great place 7/9/2009

Head to Toe has such great customer service. I have bought every one of my prom and semi dresses there and never had a problem with them. They let you take your time and our honest. If a dress does not look good they will tell you and help you pick out a dress that looks perfect for you. I now am getting married and plan to get my bridal gown from there. I even started looking but they did not have what I want so the one girl spent the whole day looking online for me trying to find dresses that I would like. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. more

Horrible Alterations 9/11/2008

My daughter had her alterations done here after purchasing a $350.00 prom dress from them. They BUTCHERED her dress. It is now costing me over $130.00 to have this dress repaired and the seamstress who is now doing it says that in her 40 years as a seamstress, she has never seen such horrible alterations. If you do buy a dress here...DO NOT have it altered by them. more

BEWARE OF SEAMSTRESS!!!! 8/15/2008

Our daughter got her bridal dress from here. They gave her very good service, but watch out for the seamstress. I took my dress there for alterations (mother of the bride) and they ruined it. After charging me $80.00 for alterations that made the dress look like it had been worn 6 times they would do nothing to correct it. I had to go to another bridal shop, and thank goodness found someone whom knew what they were doing. They fixed the dress back to new but could not believe the job that had been done on the dress. Thread to Sew would not admit to any mistake nor would they try to cooperate to correct the dress. This is not the first I have heard of this, they try to make it out to be the consumers problem. If you need alterations BEWARE. Pros: Ok service when you are shopping for a dress Cons: If there is a problem they make it out to be the consumers problem. more

Great Service 3/14/2008

The sales people at Head to Toe are very nice and very willing to help as much as they can. I bought my wedding gown at a different bridal shop. Those people treated me like I was below them. My maid of honor and I went to Head to Toe for the bridesmaid's dresses. We didn't have an appointment when we went. They very accepting and giving us great service anyway. I wish that I went to Head to Toe for my wedding gown. If I'm still in the area when my daughter gets old enough for prom dresses I'm planning on taking her there for her prom dress. For the great service we received from Head To Toe my best friend plans on getting her wedding gown at Head to Toe. Pros: Great service Cons: bad parking more

exceptional 11/26/2007

I would recommend Head to Toe to anyone. I had such a fabulous experience throughout the entire process of selecting my bridal gown. As most brides know searching for you bridal gown can be a wonderful, exciting, and sometimes frustrating event. One of my bridesmaids who was also searching for her gown went along with me on the day of my appointment. The sales staff spent over two hours with us. We never felt rushed. My friend found a gown that she loved; unfortunately it was way out of her budget. She was obviously devastated but the sales person that was helping us went and found a discontinued dress that wasn't even on the floor that looked almost exactly the same for her. The dress cost much less and my friend took it home that day. Many bridal salons would not have put forth that effort. That is the kind of salesmanship that makes this business exceptional. Pros: service more

Rude and not good service 5/8/2007

On ur special day you definitely don't want to get ur dress from here. Really rude customer service. I am not even a bride but can't even imagine them ever doing business with them during such a special time in someone's life. Wow, first time I have ever done business or met such people in my life! Pros: hmmm... hard one Cons: read my comments more
