I have had 2 of my 3 children go through the Superior chapter of Head Start and I'm positive that the reason they do so well socially and academically is because they went to Head Start. They have a very high set of standards for teaching the kids, whether it's compassion, sharing, or even just proper table manners, they do it with caring and consistency. Not only do they teach them the basics of academics with letters, numbers, etc, they also teach them real life skills. They all eat together and are allowed to serve themselves with little pitchers of milk, and smaller serving bowls for them to be able to get to. They have to ask friends to pass them down food and must use manners to do so. It's great! They also are very culturally aware and celebrate all cultures and encourage all the kids and families to as well. There classrooms are very inviting and they encourage parents to come in and hang out whenever they want to. My children NEVER once complained about going to school, they were actually bummed out everytime they couldn't go! I've recently enrolled my 3rd child in the program and I know I'm going to have another positive experience with them.
