This was one of the worst customer service experiences and one of the most unsanitary experience I've ever had. First, the customer service part. My waitress was good. Not excellent, but not major mess ups. We sat down at the hibachi table, across from another family that was at the same grill. We all ordered and received our soup and salad. I ate that and placed the fork and chopsticks I used on my dinner plate, as I waited for the hibachi chef to come out and prepare our meal in front of us and place it on this dish. He came out and was friendly. He didn't speak english very well, as he seemed to be from Japan, but that was ok because he was making an effort. He began preparing the fried rice and started divvying out portions....1,2,3,4, oops he miscalulated the portions and didn't have enough for the other family's little girl. He worked fast and quickly placed our portion of fried rice down and turned around before we had a chance to interrupt him. We explained that we didn't order fried rice and this was all the other party's rice. He then got my date's plate, dumped it on my plate, removed my USED fork and chopsticks and switched out my plate with the girls plate...RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES. I expected her mother to demand a new portion of rice, but she didn't. He then proceeded to make the meal only to get further confused my who ordered the scallops. He was visually confused, then he decided to divide it 3 ways. Only problem was that 4 people ordered it, which we found out after we walked over ourselves and spoke to that party. The whole time I suspected he gave half of our portion to the other party. At the end of it all, we got the check only to see a $4 ""dinner setting fee!"" They explained that they charge this to people who want to share a dish and that it was on the menu. When the showed me the menu, the fine print was actually listed on a SEPARATE PAGE! I kindly asked my waitress if she could call the manager to discuss this. Then the manager came, who also spoke limited english, and she explained how the charge was there as a charge for the chef having to think and divide the meals correctly. I quickly, but very kindly, explained how the chef got the whole dinner wrong and tried to correct it in an unsanitary way. I argued that they cannot charge for this premium service if they don't even deliver. She didn't care and left me with the $4 charge for a used plate. I had already heard mediocre review of this place, but figured it was just because it was expensive. Laredoans generally tend to not like expensive foods. I don't mind paying more for higher quality foods, as I love trying new restaurants in the cities I visit. I will never come here again when visiting my parents in Laredo and hope that I could save many people the trouble of going here. I was so upset with their customer service, but I'm not the type to make a scene so I just paid my tab and left. Hopefully I could have a more profound impact by telling my story.
