He talked about tile designs and grout and was very knowledgeable.\r Member Comments: My husband and I had gone to many tile stores looking for a stone backsplash, We bought some samples and took them home. We were not impressed and when we leaned them on the counter they slipped and cracked. They had too many holes in the tiles and they were just too plain. We felt this tile was too expensive for such poor quality. I looked in the yellow pages for some tile stores and found Hawkinson Tile & Marble. We met Rob there. He said he has been doing tiling for years and his knowledge was very helpful. He put some tiles in a pattern that I had seen and liked. We found a limestone Jerusalem Gold tile that was stunning. It had some small veins in it with a silver look to it against the cream/gold tile. Rob also showed that when he wet the tile slightly you get the color most likely after the tile is sealed. This way you could be sure this is the look that you want. The tile was good and solid, would not crack when leaned against the counter. Rob told me to take the sample board home and see if this is what I like. The minute we got home we knew this was the best looking tile we have seen. The next day we went back to return the sample board and order our tile. To my amazement the price of this high quality tile was the same as the tiles from the other tile stores that were of poor quality. With Rob taking his time with us and showing us different tiles with no pressure at all made this a pleasant experience. The response from people who come over and see the backsplash all ask where did I get this tile and what is it made of. We have under cabinet lighting and at night the lights shine on the tiles and it looks so rich and pretty. I highly recommend Hawkinson Tile& Marble. I've never attempted writing a review online about any services before. But after my experience with Hawkinson Tile, especially Rob Gerlich, I thought I should take some time to write a review . I'm a first time home owner who recently purchased tiles from Hawkinson for our 3 bathrooms, fireplace and additional utility rooms for our new home. Since it is a custom home we had to heavily involved in the details of the design and choosing materials. Our builder recommended Hawkinson. My disappointment is not because of Store, I feel like its quite unfortunate that we ended up with Rob Gerlich. He was so ""BUSY"" when ever we were at the store that he hardly find time for us and less patient during the design sessions and in middle of discussion he just left to attend a call and for something else. It was quite frustrating. We went to the store in the middle of work, more than 5 times to finalize the design and materials. When we met him initially, we clearly mentioned to him that we need some help while selecting materials especially for master bath and like all other first time home buyers we also got lost in the choice available. He suggested to go with easy stuff first and kept master bathroom design as the last item. After all low priority spaces, we didn't get enough time to get into Master bath room design. We had to make multiple visits to store in our busy schedule and HIS as well. When ever we asked for particular design or materials, he stopped us right there reminding us you may go over builder budget. This is the decision the home owner should make not him and that's the whole purpose of going for a custom home . We were tired of talking to him, he showed us 2 samples. He was so lazy that he didnot want show us different style. He was pushing us to pick from the ones he showed and rushing us on top of this because some materials may be out of stock and delayed to be delivered. During the Fourth design session, we came to a conclusion on main design but we couldn't finalize a border. Me and my husband were so tired, he was sitting as if we will find stuffs from his showroom. We walked around and finally came up with one border tile and my husband asked him, would this work with our design. He said yea its good, will go well. He mentioned that its a special order tile, but did not tell us what a ""SPECIAL ORDER"" me. he also mentioned that its in stock. Just for this border it costed us 563 + tax. what I thought about special order is something that delivered upon request and not stored in bulk. When they started laying the tile, my builder layed one piece of the border and called me to come over and see. The border looked terrible with rest of the tile. My builder suggested to go with something better. That night we went to Lowe's and bought a different border tile which costed us 240$ and that came out well with the rest. He never showed us anything like that which I'm sure they had similar or better ones. He was so lazy and didn't understand our needs. Finally when it came to returning the tile, he came back with ""SPECIAL ORDER"" reason, that it cannot be returned. He was suggesting us to use it for kitchen back splash, I felt like slapping on his face. When i talked to him regarding this he told me at least ten times that special order ones cannot be returned. I was hoping that, if he would have mentioned this at least once during the design session or suggested us something better, 563 dollar worth junk wont be sitting there in my basement. I designed my kitchen backsplash myself and came out really good, though i'm not a professional designer like Mr. Rob Gerlich. Request that I want to make to Mr. Rob is when people are building home there is lot of effort and money involved, which ""so called"" designers like you need to realise. Please dont play around with others patience and money. He turned out to be the worst in my home building journey as a whole. more

I am a homeowner who recently purchased tile and marble for my rec room, laundry, music room,foyer, kitchen and new bath from Hawkinson's tile. They were so helpful and had such great ideas. I had them do the complete design. Now people walk into my home and say ""WOW"".Thank you Hawkinson's Tile. Your terrific !!! Pros: Everything was in stock and ready when job began. Cons: None more

I was happy to have come across Hawkinson. They were very patient with my wife and I. They have a wonderful selection and very good prices. They also took time to share some great ideas for our project. I must say,the only negative revue they had was not reflective of our experience with some very nice people. more

Hawkinson Tile & Marble is the best tile supplier/designer in the area. I send all of my customers in there. My customers build anything from a small remod to multi million dollar custom homes and Hawkinson's treats them all with great customer service. The staff is very friendly and knowledgaeble. I love going there - no matter how my day is going, whenever I leave Hawkinson's I have a smile on my face. Hawkinson has a great selection and prices. Their design services are exceptional. They design the most beautiful floors, bathrooms, kitchens, etc. I have never had anyone complain about Hawkinson Tile and Marble. I buy all of my supplies there and wouldn't go anywhere else. I have been doing business with Hawkinson Tile & Marble for over 15 years and have been sending my customers in to Hawkinsons just as long. They are a great place to send my customers. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly and always helpful with selecting materials and design. There prices on tile, underlayments, grout and other essentials are more than competitive. When I send my employes into pick up materials they always have my order ready, as not to waste my time. I special order materials all the time with great results. I am not a contractor, just a homeowner who is very involved in the remodeling of her home. I have purchased tile from Hawkinson Tile for both my kitchens and bathrooms in my last 3 homes. I cannot say enough great things about the owners and staff @ Hawkinson Tile. The owners really take a hands on approach and are so friendly and personable. They gave me some excellent design ideas. They really pay special attention to every last little detail; giving me both pros and cons of certain products and their application. The selection of tile was unbelievable. Sometimes it made it very hard for me to decide what option I wanted to go with. My projects are probably small potatoes compared to what they get from contractors, but they always made me feel like mine was special to them. Competitive pricing, friendly customer service, vast selection of tile, design expertise.....all of these things will definitely keep me coming back! more

I was remodeling my bathroom and needed tile, at first I purchased my tile from Century Tile in Itasca, however because of their rudeness I returned everything and by friends recommendation went to Hawkinson Tile what a PLEASURE What a DIFFERENCE even thou my order was not substantial I was treated with courtesy and respect unlike Century Tile. My husband and I were thrilled when we discovered Hawkinson Tile and Marble in Elk Grove was the supplier for our tile because we had dealt with them in the past with several remodeling projects and always had great experiences plus our projects turned out amazing each time. I have been using this design center for my personnel needs and those of my clients for the last 10 years.. My experience with hawkinson tile and marble have been nothing short of a terrific and fun. The showroom is clean and well organized and the designers are friendly and helpful. They are very informative and are willing to take the time needed to make sure my clients are leaving knowing full well that they were given every option as well as the pros and cons to the selections given the application. There are always problems that arise with any remodeling or new construction project and they always kept me informed with delays or issues. I recently sent another client in there, which is why i am writing this... she went in to do one bath and was so satisfied with service and price she added another powder room and possibly next summer may have me back to do more.. I felt someone should hear about this company as they advertise little and are not a huge chain, my clients have raved that the service was impeccable and that the staff always made them feel like family. I have done business with Hawkinson Tile and Marble for many years and cannot believe that they could get a bad review. I work as a design consultant with a custom home builder and we use Hawkinson for ALL our tile and have never had one complaint about their customer service, in fact many of my clients tell me that the tile process went very smoothly and they are a pleasure to do business with. In my personal opinion their designing capibilities and professionalism are outstanding. I couldn't imagine sending my clients anywhere else. Hawkinson has a knowledgable sales staff with incredible designing ideas. I have dealt with the owners personally and they are very hands on with their company treating all of their clients with the utmost respect. My overall experience was the worst tile buying experience I've ever had. The owners are not customer friendly and not forthcoming. Their delivery dates were not met as promised and If your not happy with their service they tell you to go elsewhere. For a company that has been in business for over 20 years you would think they would be more customer oriented. Their attitude is that they could do no wrong and that the customer is always wrong. I've never had a business transaction conducted in such an immature fashion. This interaction occurred with the owners of the company! I was in shock and will never do business with Hawkinson Tile! In my opinion these people do not value their customers. Cons: Poor Customer Service more
