Chris Hawk, MD, Stanley Wilson, MD General Surgery Thoracic Surgery Surgical Oncology Charleston Surgical Associates proudly offers high quality surgical and cancer care to the Lowcountry of South Carolina and the Southeast and was founded by Dr. John Hawk, Jr. in 1970. Dr. Hawk was the first specially trained surgical oncologist in South Carolina and was instrumental in shaping the cancer program at the Medical University of South Carolina prior to coming to Roper Hospital. Now part of the Roper St Francis Physician Partners, Dr. Hawk and Dr. Wilson offer a broad range of outpatient and office surgical care. Our major emphasis is on providing high quality interdisciplinary care related to cancer and other complex surgical illnesses. Dr. Chris Hawk trained at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in General and Thoracic surgery. Dr. Wilson trained at the University of Virginia and the University of Rochester, NY and did Surgical Oncology training at MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, TX.

Our surgeons have special training and experience in cancer surgery and are also very active in treating a wide variety of surgical problems,ranging from simple office biopsies and procedures to advanced laparoscopic surgery. We also offer careful screening and evaluation of high risk patients for breast cancer and melanoma.
In-office ultrasound also facilitates efficient on the spot evaluation and ultrasound guided biopsies as needed,especially with problems involving the breast,thyroid,lymph nodes and other possible masses.
