Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall off the beaten path in the St. Matthew?s neighborhood, Havana Rumba is worth finding. Service is prompt and friendly, even on busy weekend nights. You are not likely to find a better mojito in town, either. We have been there several times and try to order a new dish every time, and haven?t been disappointed yet.\r

The ropa vieja (shredded beef in a savory tomato sauce) is a real find, as are the masas de puerco (deep-fried marinated pork chunks); however, it?s the sandwiches that really stand out. Growing up in Miami, I have really high expectations of a Cuban sandwich, and theirs is well above par. However, for a truly unique taste, give their Havana Rumba special a try. They start with a Cuban, then add chorizo, roast red paper and a spicy garlic aioli. Not terribly authentic, true, but when it?s this good, who cares?
