First time for cuban 3/9/2011

stopped here for dinner on a reco from a friend. The friendly manager helped me with the menu since it was my first time trying Cuban food. Had the house pork dish. It was so tender and juicy with an amazing flavor. There was enough pork on mt plate to feed 2! Tried the Cuban mojito - very sweet. Should have ordered it for dessert. Service was fast, friendly, and dinner was piping hot. Live music made the place a bit loud, but I will definitely return! So many choices on the menu. more

Great food 9/21/2009

Havana Rumba always serves a great meal with super service. The servers are friendly, and although it can look intimidating in the front room, which is small, I rarely have waited too long for a table. The guava milkshake is awesome and enough for two and the sandwiches are delicious with sweet potato fries. The yucca and the vaca frita, empanadas, fried potatoes with beef, bread, they are all fantastic. Pros: milkshakes, sandwiches, drinks Cons: strip mall location more

Favorits Restaurant in Louisville 3/4/2009

His is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Louisville. I love the chimichurri steak and the vaca frita. The plantains are my favorite item. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Mojitos are good too. Pros: Not expensive, great Cuban food Cons: weekends are busy, but it's worth the wait. more

Great Cuban Food 1/5/2009

Great latino food. Different from old Tex-Mex. Everything was good except the waitress, he was kind of rude. But not all of them were like that. I'll be back, for sure. Pros: Food and ambience Cons: service more

Best Cuban sandwich north of Little Havana! 1/28/2007

Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall off the beaten path in the St. Matthew?s neighborhood, Havana Rumba is worth finding. Service is prompt and friendly, even on busy weekend nights. You are not likely to find a better mojito in town, either. We have been there several times and try to order a new dish every time, and haven?t been disappointed yet.\r \r The ropa vieja (shredded beef in a savory tomato sauce) is a real find, as are the masas de puerco (deep-fried marinated pork chunks); however, it?s the sandwiches that really stand out. Growing up in Miami, I have really high expectations of a Cuban sandwich, and theirs is well above par. However, for a truly unique taste, give their Havana Rumba special a try. They start with a Cuban, then add chorizo, roast red paper and a spicy garlic aioli. Not terribly authentic, true, but when it?s this good, who cares? Pros: Service, Value Cons: Location more
