So excited to try this place because of the Food Network visit - we arrived and got draft beers for $1... Awesome. We then tried to order the guy platter ( we came because of the show) they were out of one of the dishes. We then ordered something else and 10 minutes later the server arrived to tell us they were out of our second choice as well. When we ordered our third choice they were out again. Basically this place serves tacos - nothin else. We then said to just bring us another round of beers and not worry about the food - we didn't get our second round of drinks and were acknowledged while we walks out. The service was average but really why do you expect when there's nothin to serve. Sadly we won't return - probably not even for drinks. more

Here is the scoop from a local. Service is poor like everyone says. But it is a local dive bar making food out of a catering truck. Food was just above average but was unique. Worth a check out but not to go out of your way. more

Terrible service, rude wait staff, and drunk mangers in sweaty terry cloth dresses. It's okay to be laid back, but to kick my family and I out of the restaraunt for asking for or correct orders, is compleely unnecessary. more

Fun, laid back eatery. I have passed by this place several times, I always just thought it was another local dive bar, I never thought to stop in. A friend took my there during the Street Painting festival and I was pleasantly surprised. They told us about Taco Tuesday and I've been taking my boys there ever since. It's just a really col, groovy place, the owners work it along with the staff, I haven't run across a nasty employee yet. Enjoy more

We visit Havana Hideout quite often. The whole unique vibe of the place is that it is all fresh made to order out of one truck. The ambience is chill and laid back and the sangria and craft beer are awesome. It is true Florida. Unfortunately if you are impatient or are unable to relax and listen to some great live music while waiting for your made fresh to order food to be ready, then this is not the place for you!!! Too jays is close by though! more

In response to Jeff's review: It is unfortunate the experience you had at Havana Hideout. However, I was sitting at the table directly behind you and witnessed your atrocious behavior. I watched you snap your fingers while beckoning to the young black girl who was bringing food to tables. Then I watched as you used profanity to your server who was trying his best. We are regulars there and knew when the owners walked over to you, you're behavior became even worse then. Understandably your food took some time but part of the vibe of this place is that everything is made to order all from one truck, it is unfortunate you did not understand the whole experience of this laid back dive. If you hadn't been trespassed by the sherriff officer they had to call on you, I would recommend you try it again. more

I write this as a warning!! Bad Service. Bad Food. Even Worse Management. \r \r Since the sale of the restaurant in late 2011, the service and the food quality has diminished greatly. My party waited a hour for food, we asked the server (drinking at the service bar) where our food was, and his response was "well you ordered at 'rush hour' so too bad. When the food finally did arrive, the order was wrong. When the food runner brought the correct order she threw (literally) the basket of empanadas on the table and stormed away. The empandas were over cooked and were missing the accompaniments. We flagged down the server, and again we were told that we ordered during "rush hour". Are you kidding me? I tried to find a manager, even any semblance thereof, but to no avail. At this point we decided to leave and asked the server for the check minus the empanadas. This is when I got to meet the managers/owners. They did not want to hear about the food issues or the poor service. They insisted that I was to pay for the entire check or they would call the police. more

Tried this place for the first time tonight. Saw it on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and was eager to test it out. What a fantastic choice I made, we had the fish taxis and the jerk chicken and both were excellent. The live music was excellent. Our server was a young girl named Mirmand and it was some of the best service we've had anywhere, and we're big food lovers who eat out all the time. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. We'll definitely be back!! more

I agree with the last reviewer. I couldn't believe the reviews were about the same place I had eaten. It was laid back. With live music, awesome food and great service. Their craft beer selection is tremendous. I asked my server if there had been any changes and she informed me the place had changed hands in November...Love what theyve done with it!!! more

I don't understand the previous bad reviews. My wife & I stopped there tonight for the first time and fell in love with the place! Our waitress was excellent, told us all about Diners, Drive-ins & Diners filming there and went over the menu with us. The food was wonderful cuban comfort food, well prepared & served hot. The atmosphere is definitely "old Florida", but that is what we loved about the place. If you want a spotless, modern, upscale restaurant - do not come here. If you want good cuban bar food & cold beer while listening to music in an outdoor setting that is getting harder to find in FL, then you will have fun at the Havana Hideout more

Food not that good. Much better places to eat in the area. more

...by the good eats turned out from the food truck/kitchen at this quirky spot. The special of the day is usually great! If you like sangria, try the sampler; good beers on tap, too. Only downfalls: rain (most of the seating is outdoors, though it is nicely shaded) and occasionally slow service. more

At first this place was awesome offering up dollar tacos(which is what they are worth). Now they charge $8 dollars for the same tacos(2). Service may quite possibly be the worst I have ever experienced on the outside, the inside bar service is just fine. Bathrooms are a little unsettling to say the least. The waitresses seem to favor the "usuals" and ignore new patrons. I have sat there for over 20 minutes with only 15 people there to even be asked what i would like to drink. I highly recommend just going to the bar to ensure that u get prompt service and a beverage to quench your thirst. Someone needs to call an exterminator for all of those roaches. more

I've had bad service before, but never has a server made a scene, screamed profanities, and threatened me until I went to Havana Hideout. This was after I tipped 30%while having dinner with my mother. The management did nothing to rectify the situation, if the restaurant even has a manager - he/she was no where to be found. \r \r P.S - we saw more than one cockroach on our visist. more

It is extremely overhyped. I'd give it 2 stars at most (out of 10). If your wasted and your taste buds have been compromised due to alcohol, then maybe it wouldn't be such an awful place. more

Went on thus night and sat outside which was pleasant in April. Outside area was elect tic in nature. Picnic benches, tables, metal chairs. Menu was limited. Empanadas were good. Although we ordered the empanadas as an appetizer all the food came together. Main dishes were not great. Ordered tacos. Served on paper plates mostly. Ordered sangria. Very, very weak. No fruit in it and cost way too much $19.50. more

So I was excited to try this place out but was disappointed. The service was slow, unfriendly and really lacking. Our server never smiled once. We were told to go ahead and take a seat even though the table had not been bussed yet. That is fine but the table should have been wiped down.\r \r We asked twice to get the table wiped down and no one ever did. It was sticky and the menus were filthy. The server forgot my drink ( not a big deal) but she never checked back so I did not get my drink until the meal was served.( ok half the meal cause the food did not come out together). \r My friends entree sat in the window for a good long while before it was brought out to the table. The cook kept looking around because his window was full and no one came to run the food.\r \r No one ever checked back after the meal was served to ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. My friend wanted to order another taco but we decided to forget it.The place was not busy but the service was slow and inefficient. I understand that this is not a fancy place but even a dive needs to have friendly and decent service. \r The ceviche was mostly salsa ( which was very good) but like I said not very much fish. The chips were very good but were not served warm as described on the menu. The food looked nothing like the pictures on the web site and the portions were much smaller. The strawberry sangria was sweet and pretty tasty but I thought $6 plus to be kind of pricey for a small plastic cup of sangria. If you are looking for fancy this is not for you. The bathrooms are especially nasty. The place has a great tropical vibe and I have heard the open mic nights are good. I don't know how much pitchers of the sangria are but that seems like it would be a better value. This place has potential but the service really needs to improve." more

Beyond awful. I just had the fish taco today. I feel like I must be in the twilight zone. The flour tortilla was deep fried, not a fresh tortilla, fried dough, get it? The cabbage was dressed in 1/2 cup of mayo, NO Chipoltle anything. The pineapple so called salsa was just some overly sweet pineapple with not much else in it. Oh yeah, and there was about 2 Tbls. spoons of nondescript fish in there too. I couldn't and wouldn't eat it. The beer and chips were fine. And.... they forgot the rice, beans any vegetables with that. Nice plastic cup for the beer though. more

We have been a few times after seeing the segment on Food Network. I think my favorite thing is the fish tacos with the pineapple salsa and chipotle slaw - they are delicious and spicy! I tried the pionono but it was just a little too weird/different for my liking.\r \r I'd recommend going when the weather is good - it's a place where you sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere and that doesn't work when it's raining (we tried and failed).\r \r Also, we heard about Taco Tuesdays where they sell tacos for $1. This is a bit misleading as you're expected to buy a drink for every two tacos you order. Still a good deal but something to be aware of. more

I own it! We work hard to make everyone happy, but the toughest lesson is that you can't...but gosh darn it we are gonna keep trying! As far as the guy who waited an hour, he was asked to leave the bar...interesting way to get revenge??? As far as the guy who didn't feel his Cuban had enough pork, come back in and talk to me, and we will rock out a pork sandwhich! Thanks! more
