Hattan Cleaners

I have been going to Hattan for over 6 years, they are always very pleasant and professional. Dry cleaning gets delivered in a timely manner (usually BEFORE the day that is promised) and the tailoring is always perfect. I have gotten many items tailored there and it's always exactly as I want it. I highly recommend this dry cleaner. more

I had a coat wardrobe malfunction on a cold day. Ben at Hattan Cleaners looked at my old zipper (with teeth and thread missing; as well as broken zipper tab) and gently suggested I go to a nearby store to buy a new coat since it would cost more to replace the whole zipper. He then did a temporary fix for me to get me through until then and he did that free of charge. I plan to go back to Hattan Cleaners for any tayloring or dry cleaning I need. more

I have used Hattan Cleaners for many years, to clean clothes and alter them. I have always found them to be extremely friendly and highly competent. I am happy to recommend them. more

Go here if ...\r \r You like being treated like a second-class citizen. \r \r After consistent patronage over many, many months, I was told that Hattan Cleaners would no longer pick up my dry cleaning because: they weren't making enough money off of me. \r \r My monthly bill averaged $100; I’m not sure what they expect in this recessionary environment. Be advised: AVOID HATTAN CLEANERS if you plan to keep your annual bill under $1200. \r \r Also, avoid them if you appreciate being treated as a valuable customer, you will not be at this shotty establishment. more

Hattan Cleaners is simply the best. Benny and his family couldn't be more friendly, honest and considerate. They do great work and they take pride in it. Hattan won't promise you a stain will come out and then not deliver. They will give their honest, professional opinion, then try their best. I feel better knowing my garments are with cleaners with this much integrity. (And it's worth mentioning I've never had a stain that they couldn't get out!) The bottom line: with Hattan you will never be disappointed. I now live 10+ blocks away and still bring all of my cleaning needs to Hattan. I'll never go anywhere else! more

I went to Hattan when I moved to Gramercy because all of the great reviews. Most people seemed to focus on the family ownership of the business, and years of good quality.\r \r Well, I think the son is running the place into the ground. He works the register, and is VERY rude if you ask him any kind of question. ANY time I have brought in a garment with a stain, he said the same thing: ""I can't promise we can get that out. You may want to take it to a specialist."" Huh? I go to a dry cleaner because that IS my specialist to get stains out of dirty clothing... who wants to hear that every time a garment is soiled?\r \r He also -- twice! -- became very agitated/unprofessional because I asked him what the odds were of them being able to get a certain stain out. ""I can't promise anything. You want me to promise you it'll come out,"" he sat there saying. No... I was just asking him to share his professional experience with me. But that didn't stop him from becoming confrontational, and -- in one case -- telling me flat out to take the item elsewhere. The fact that he became so frustrated and rude when I asked basic questions was not a good indication of his professionalism. \r \r The quality of the cleaning was decent, but not fantastic -- iterms could be pressed funny. Considering that they rarely touched my stained garments because I kept getting referred to specialists, they never did my toughest dry cleaning work, so I wouldn't be able to say they are very good.\r \r It's a shame, I think that what has happened here is that the parents ran a very good business, but the son is now running it... and probably running it into the ground. more

When I moved to E 23rd Street, I initially went to a closer tailor who ended doing a terrible job on my alterations. I looked online and saw a review about Hattan, on 14th and 3rd, and thought, what the hell, I'm desperate, I'll walk the seven-plus blocks. I took them my laundry, dry cleaning and the clothes that had been badly altered at the last tailor. You never know whether to trust online reviews or not, but I'm glad I did this one. It was perfect. Simply perfect. The laundry was crisp and clean, the dry cleaning fresh and pristine. More importantly, they completely repaired my clothes so that they fit me perfectly. I've recently moved away, to W 33rd Street, but I still take my alterations all the way to Hattan. That's how good they are. Pros: Quick, friendly and, more importantly, skilled. more

They do great alterations and cleaning. And the one time I had them do a rush job and they misplaced the garment, they found it within the hour, delivered it to my apt and didn't charge me and were hugely apologetic. I've had bad experiences with other cleaners nearby and always go to them. Pros: do great work more

I may have moved to Brooklyn...but Hattan Cleaners is still my go-to for any important dry cleaning and ALL of my tailoring. I think it says a lot that I lug all my stuff there...but they really are the best & I would rather the job done right. They are quick, friendly & reasonably priced. Highly recommend! more

I have a fairly difficult size to find in clothes all around. But when it comes to dress shirts its near impossible. Recently I purchased several shirts from a high end Men's clothing store. Although the neck and sleeves fit perfectly, the stomach area and the length of the shirts were way too big. A friend of mine told me to bring the shirts to Hattan on 3rd ave and 15 street. He told me they would alter the shirts so I could wear them more often instead of just tucked into a suit. I'm glad I did that exact thing. The shirts look great and I feel like I doubled my wardrobe while spending a quarter of the money. If you have clothes that don't fit quite right I suggest you take them to Hattan instead of blowing more cash on new clothes. I tore my coat on a fire hydrant (got shoved to the edge of the sidewalk by a bunch of tourists on New Year's weekend,) and I was worried that the coat was irreparably damaged. Luckily, the expert tailors at Hattan Cleaners knew otherwise. They fixed it perfectly-- no, scratch that, BEYOND perfectly! I keep inspecting the spot where the tear was (I should mention, part of the tear went off the seam, so it was no easy fix,) and there is no evidence that it was ever torn. I highly recommend Hattan Cleaners to anyone who needs tailoring. They are miracle workers, I swear! Pros: Expert tailoring, friendly service Cons: None! more

For more than 20 years I have had all of my cleaning and tailoring done here. I have never had any\r reason to consider a competitor. While excellence is the only adequate description of their results,\r I do have another compelling reason for giving them my business. It is the way Ben and his parents\r always interact with me and all of the customers I have observed. They express interest in my needs,\r suggest various ways to reach a solution and finally, should there be a need to redo something,\r they are gracious. Why would I look elsewhere? more

Firstly I never write reviews but last week I was at a home depot with my girlfriend complaining about how all these big box retailers have wiped out the little guy. So I thought I'd put in my 2 cents. I agree with the last reviewer.. I have tried several of the other ""discount"" cleaners around 3rd ave and 14th for a few weeks because they seemed cheaper. Nickel and diming on my cleaners wasnt worth the marginal savings. Ben (we know each other on first name basis) knows practically all of his regulars by name. Where do you get that these days? In these days of Walmarts and superstores with mindless drones working behind the counter it's nice to walk in to the local mom and pop to be greeted by name and make small talk. I hope they stay for a good long time.. more

I get all my cleaning and tailoring done at Hattan. I've been to many different cleaners in my area. Some were more expensive and some were cheaper but none of them treated me as good as these guys do. And when things go wrong they make it right. Since finding Hattan Cleaners I've been reluctant to move because it's so hard to find a good cleaners you can trust. Pros: Customer service more

Very poor service and attitude. Button down shirts are folded as if they are dish towels, the clothes are do not come back adequately clean and the establishment takes no responsibility. With so many cleaners in the neighborhood there is no reason to frequent this place. more
