I have one child at Hatcher and an impending arrival on the waiting list; I wouldn't send my children anywhere else. The teachers are kind, fun, and very well-versed in children's development; the program encourages children to love learning and exploration and to be kind and supportive of each other. We moved our son here when he was two, after a terrible experience at another center, where he was so withdrawn his teacher of 3 months didn't even know he could talk. Within a week at Hatcher, he was talking non-stop, telling everyone everything. He is now 3 and can write his name, read about ten to fifteen words on sight, and still loves going to school. The administration at Hatcher makes it a point to keep personally in touch with parents, to know every child along with their strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes, and to respond promptly to parents' concerns. We would not send our children anyplace else; Hatcher is certainly the best center in Richmond.
