Hat

I haven't been to the San Gabriel location but have frequented the Simi Valley on more than one occassion. The Hat is a typical sandwich shop with the traditional subs. Of the times I've been, I've only gotten the pastrami. As with this type of sandwich, it's greasy and piled fairly high on the roll. I like the fact that the pastrami is peppery and melts in your mouth I would definitely recommend this place over a Subway or Togo's as it has somewhat of a ""diner"" feel to it. There's nothing special about the decor as it is quite muted and drab. I wouldn't rate this place as high in the 9s but rather in the high 6s or low 7s. Nonetheless, if you like your sandwiches without that ""chain"" feeling, then this is the place to go. Pros: Pastrami sandwiches Cons: None really more

If you want to eat at the HAT, you should go to the original. It's in Alhambra, on Valley Blvd. at Garfield. It's been there since the 50s and the ambience is the real thing. Food is great too. more
