Harpoon Larry's Oyster Bar

I ate there for lunch & tried the daily lunch special which just so happened to be one of my favorite fish (Mahi Mahi) grilled to perfection on a sesame seed bun topped with lettuce, tomatoe & tarter sauce. As soon as I bit into the sandwich, I instantly added Harpoon Larry's to my 4-Star list. For a side, there were many to choose from, but the sweet potato fries were calling my name. The fries were a wedge/krinkle cut and they were nice & crisp. The fries were complimented with a homemade BBQ/Ranch mixture dipping sauce which really made the fries pop! I would go any day of the week for their lunch specials; however due to the limited seating and the barlike environment I would never drag my wife, my 6 month old babygirl and my 5 year old son in there for dinner. My fianc?e and I had our first date at Harpoon Larry's, and the place held special meaning for us..until last night. To begin, we had to choose the smoking section as the non smoking dining ""room"" was filled with an extended wait for those tables, curiously it's only about 1/3 the size of the smoking side. My fianc?e ordered a cluster of crab legs, I ordered a grilled tuna fillet sandwich, as we had plans afterward and we expected a fairly quick turnaround. After the first cluster was gone, and my drink was empty, my dinner was still not to be found. My fianc?e ordered another cluster of crab legs, and we were ok with it so far as the waitress said ""raw bar stuff always comes out first"", I guess so everyone else at the table can watch. My fianc?e then went though that cluster, and I still have no dinner, dinner was about 40 minutes on the clock at that point. I have eaten here several times since moving to the area, and have not had sub par serving yet. Everything is fresh. The shrimp are big and tasty. Very good clams and oysters. Their hot wings are great. My girlfriend had the flounder and I the tuna last night, and both were cooked perfectly. Her flounder was especially good, nice and light, but flavorful. Our waitress was attentive, but not obtrusive. If you are in the area and enjoy sea food, get to Harpoon Larry's, you wont be disappointed. Pros: Great sea food at market prices Cons: Ambiance is not upscale, but if you dont mind that...enjoy!!! more

I no longer live in Hampton but when I visit, best believe you can catch me at Harpoon Larry's drinking a Rum Runner. I tried Rum Runners up and down the East cost and none of them compare to Harpoon Larry's. The food is great as well and you can catch celeb's eating there as well. Allen Iverson was there the last time I ate there. Go by and try it out. Pros: Good food, service, drinks, social life. Cons: spaceing and seating more

we have been eating at harpoon larry's for 10 years. i must say it never changes. the service is great! we highly recommmend the crabcake and oysters. everything is great. if you are ever in hampton, va you must check this place out. more

Tere are only two places that I eat seafood in hampton roads. Harpoon Larrys is on top of that list. more
