After it became obvious that our 19 year old cat was in serious distress and discomfort we contacted Harmony Path to see about having her euthanized. The vet tech told us on the phone that the doctor would want to talk with us to be sure we were making a good decision and not just one of convenience for us. We were, frankly, pleased that she seemed to care that much. We set an appointment and went in. The tech was very nice and understanding as we filled out the paperwork. She led us into a room and told us the doctor would be in shortly.
The doctor didn't ""come in"" - she ""stormed in"". Everything she did was rushed and abrupt. She did not greet us. She didn't speak at all to us. She did not even look at us. She snatched the razor and roughly shaved Mabon's leg. Then she snatched up the rubber tube, tied it quickly around Mabon's leg, grabbed a syringe from her pocket, jabbed it in, pushed the plunger, yanked it out, snatched off the rubber tube, yanked her stethoscope from her pocket, pronounced Mabon dead, and left. She was in the room less than 4 minutes.
All of this took place 2 weeks ago and I am STILL upset. I was so angry I was shaking when I left. It was hard enough to make the decision it was Mabon's time. That is the most difficult decision any pet owner can ever make, and I had bottle raised her from 2 hours old after she'd been abandoned by her feral mom. To have the doctor not only treat us so rudely, but to also have her treat Mabon with such coldness and lack of caring, is beyond contempt and totally and completely unacceptable.
It doesn't even matter if this doctor supports euthanasia. She agreed to do it. She should have shown some compassion for us AND for our sweet Mabon.
I repeat: NEVER NEVER NEVER go to this vet.
