Saturday, November 3, 2007 about 10:30pm. Went to the Harmony Inn on 82nd to get a drink and read my magazine. The door person asked me for ID and stamped my hand. I sat at the bar ordered a whiskey coke and read my magazine. Didn?t speak to anyone but the bartender who was very friendly. About 15 minutes later the door person came up to me and said ?I think it?s time for you to call it a night?. I asked him what he meant, he said ?I?ve had some complaints from people saying you?re asking them for coke?. I told him I hadn?t spoken to anyone, he said he ?didn?t want to argue? with me and that I ?just needed to leave?. I took a moment to look around at all the shocked looks on the other customers faces that sat near me. I got up leaving my first drink of the night ? full, assured him I wouldn?t come back and left. I was dressed nice but I have long hair and a long goatee, so apparently I didn?t fit in with the crowd that night. I have been to the Harmony Inn on many occasions in the past and have never had such an experience. With so many bars in Portland I don?t think I?ll have any need to visit that place again. I usually goto the Harmony on the off nights when it?s really dead and never have any trouble just sitting and reading a book or magazine. But I guess they don?t want that on a Saturday night. I have noticed that their business has slowed a lot since I first started going there. This might be the reason why.
Pros: It's ok on off nights
Cons: Dj on Saturdays yet still slow. Hmm.
