Of course I was suspicious when all tickets were non-refundable. Sure enough, they over-booked the whale watching cruise, and there were not enough seats for the 2 and a half hour cruise over really choppy water, which NEVER STOPS! I pictured sitting on a deck and leisurely perusing the ocean for whales. There were not enough seats inside or outside. People were huddled with their children on the dirty floor inside, and we were told we couldn't stand by the rail or in stairways on the front deck. It didn't take long for most of the patrons to become nauseous and miserable. We were told later in the cruise not to get sick in the toilets, but try for one of the few trash cans provided. You try to cheer up your kids but you realize you're never going to slow to a comfortable stop in the boat's pace, you're probably not going to see whales, and there's nothing to do for the two hours remaining. At least at the one highlight, when we saw some dolphins, our window looking out wasn't the one that had someone's lunch all over it from above like the one across.
If you really insist on going I recommend the following; Find out the weather before buying your non-refundable tickets. Get there early enough to ensure a seat. Take a book, movie, magazine or something to distract yourself or kids when it all goes south. And bring your own barf-bag.
I would recommend the near-by aquarium or maybe even this company's 45 minute tour might be less objectionable.
