Hansen's reopens!! 5/26/2006

To those in the know there is no need to explain that Hansen's is simply THE BEST snowball stand in town. Sadly both of the founders, Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Mary passed away in the Katrina aftermath, but their business just reopened again. For the time being they will only be opened Friday to Sunday, but once they manage to hire some help, they will extend that. So far the business has been always staffed by family members only. So come on and get one of their wonderful creations! more

Best Snowball In Town 8/18/2005

Hansen's to me is hands-down the best tasting snowball in the city. Family operated for years, this incredible snowball joint is only sporadically open during summer months, but if you manage to come while it is open for business, you'll be in a for a treat. The ice seems almost as soft as italian ice, and flavors are simply amazing, although the options are not as extensive as Plum St. and other stands. The best place in New Orleans for that beloved summer dessert. more

Hansens: Heaven on Ice 8/14/2005

Hansen's Sno-Bliz in Uptown New Orleans has been "air-conditioning tummies" since 1934. They do this with snowballs, that uniquely New Orleans treat. At Hansen's, a snowball is paper thin flakes of shaved ice topped with one the Hansen's homemade, signature flavored syrups. Ask for a limeade and tell 'em I sent you. more
