It was the perfect fall Sunday. I was in the mood for a cosy brunch in an old historic inn. We found the perfect place. Michelle's Restaurant in the old historic Hanover Tavern fit the bill perfectly. Seated in the glassed-in backporch, the view of the sun-lit back yard was just the ticket. The brunch menu was hard to choose from, everything looked so interesting. Truly a gourmet treat. Their Bloody Mary's were tall and impressively garnished. We started with the oyster appetizer - tasty morsels with a shittake pesto. The cheese grits, shrimp, and sausage dish was garnished with fried brussel sprout leaves - they were caramelized, and were the most amazing compliment to the dish. The only complaints - the a/c was cranked a little higher than it needed to be, and I was freezing - yes, the waiter knew it. The service was slow, but as we weren't in a hurry, it was not an issue - but could use some improvement. And the service was a little inattentive. I get tired of continuing to have to flag down a waiter to have coffee refilled, and forks replaced.
Pros: Great food, great ambiance, good value
Cons: Service needs a little polishing.
